Interesting.  I wonder if Cisco will try to go outside the business market altogether and do routers for the home. 

I wonder how long it will be before someone offers a home router/"mini server" with abilities beyond print server.  Something perhaps configured with a webserver for the home (not shared with the internet just internally) with a group of useful shared programs (Google docs perhaps), a centralized in house Webmail system that can connect out ward to other mail services.  The ability to add simple web based games. 

I think there is a potential market for this,  Shared services that don't rely on the internet just your own local network.

Do you remember or know that Cisco bought out Linksys a few years ago.  You can read about it here.

IMHO I would never buy a router from Cisco/Linksys.  I never liked their routers.

IMHO I would never buy a router from Cisco/Linksys.  I never liked their routers.


I'd probably heard that at the time but I don't remember.  My router is a USRobotics.
