Usually that means Blue Screen of Death, since unless you reconfigured it to not auto-reboot on blue screen, then it will just reboot without anyone telling it instead of displaying the blue screen.

umm, well the best way to put it is
Blue Screen of Death, usually this is when there are poorly-written device drivers or malfunctioning hardware is usually the cause.
So the display driver used by the computer(for the video card) just malfunctioned or something went haywire with the memory of the Operating System.

Most computers are configured this way unless your knowledgeable with computers.
So basically there was a critical error in Windows most likely that caused a system reboot to prevent damage
