New Projects: TOS Baker and "Remastered" transport
« on: February 01, 2009, 07:06:29 pm »
I've been trying to take a stab at this vessel from the remastered version of "Is There in Truth No Beauty?"

(image from Trekmovie.com)

So far I've managed to get the shape down.  This is the first model I'm attempting with original, and not just kitbashed parts.  So... the first question is... is there are texture tutorial somewhere for Milkshape 3D?

The other ship in the works is a TOS version of my all-time favorite FASA Fed, the Baker-class.  My question here... dish or no dish?

Thanks in advance.

The medusan looks awesome but the pipes on the back need to be thicker. There's also some structure on the nacelles that covers the registry that isn't present on your model.

Personally I didn't like the 'hang-down' deflector dishes on most of the FJ models. Were it my choice I'd either rig two dishes on the pylons to the warp nacelles, or create some kind of structure on the hull to mount the dish so that it points out under the saucer.

It appears to be a side bump.. sort of an enhanced intercooler piping system or coils protuding a little bit that causes the metal to have to be pushed out to cover it.

And personally, I'm in the "must have dish" group, and like what you have going there.  :)

I realized last night that the easiest thing to do with the Baker is to include two models, one with dish and one without.

As to the transport/courier... it may be a while.  This is the first model I've done which uses my own solid shapes.  I'll certainly work on the nacelle "bump".  Unfortunately, there's only one angle of the ship seen that I can tell... has anyone seen any other pics of this one?

Thanks,

It's a safe bet that the other side looks the same as the side we see.. Feddies at this time tend to be symmetrical.  :)

I fixed it for you.  ;)

Like that new little ship. Rare ships are always good to have, especialy in anything of the above average quality catagory.
