Nicely done I'd use that as a DNH.  ;D  For the FBB I'd like to see a 4 warp engine version ala SFB.   :)

Not exactly the same flathead target we're looking for but thanks anyway. We aren't really asking for a purist SFB inspired version.

The links were only directed to Bernard, cause he said he wanted to see a 4 engine FBB.

Yet another fine, shining example of the best qualities of the SFC community.

My thanks as well for the links as they were worth having a second look at.

She's done... and she's a big one!  All zipped up she's about 13 MB.  I'll e-mail you a link... can't post it on Battleclinic until I get all the readme's and permissions sorted out.

I'd like to see a 4 engine version of this one would make a nice battleship I think even better if we stretch out the secondary hull a bit more

There is an Erik Kristianson design or two, that come close or fit the bill exactly, namely the Hatfield Class Command Cruiser, in the book "Ships of the Star Fleet Volume.I."

Chances are that Models Please has already created a model for it, as he has already covered 95% of that book already.

God only knows where he finds the time....  ::)

The Klingons have many ways to fry a cat. I prefer to use an L7 Fast Battlecruiser!!

You are right; ModelsPease did an excellent Hatfield. One change that needs to be done to it, though, is for the Miranda primary hull to be replaced with the Knox that ModelsPlease did. The Knox class is shorter, and just looks a bit cleaner. That's only my opinion, though. Also, the botanical section maps don't seem to work.

A TMP Enterprise Class CH hull with a Knox saucer makes the Pittsburg Class heavy assault cruiser (CHA) from FASA's Star Trek game.

I made a model, for use in the LAN games here, last year, from the stock game ships, just to try out the concept.

There are quite a few existing "paper" concepts in books and on line, plus other posibilities for future designs, using the Knox or Darran shortened "D" shaped saucer.

Now a battle ship or CVM would be a logical progression on this design.... or maybe an SCS.

Isn't 3600 used by the Commanche Class FHA.... or is this where the donor saucer came from??

Do you have any renders of the Pittsburg Class heavy assault cruiser? I'm curious as to what that looks like.

I'll have to scan in the TOS version diagram I have somewhere.

Basically, it is a Connie with a Surya / Quillen "D" type saucer fitted.

Howevr, the nachelle supports are more like TMP Connie in size and similarity, with large flush vents.

I knocked up a rough TMP version to evalulate

The ship is classed as an Assuault or Commando Cruiser with the extra hangar bays being used for assault shuttles and similar landing craft.

We generally use the Pittsburgh as a Commando Cruiser, where it performs quite well in LAN games.

I kind of fills a large gap in the SFB fleet for this role very nicely.

The ship is registered as CHA 3794 USS Pittsburgh.
