For the love of Starbases...
« on: January 21, 2009, 11:40:59 pm »
After deciding the stock Federation Starbase was a little too....plain for casual viewing, I decided to go looking for something satisfying to call 'home' for a few missions, or in the very least destroy while playing as the Romulans.

But it seems there's never been a high-detail starbase. If anything, there's a gamut of fanmade starbases... but no love for the classic mushroom. At least Regula 1 fairs a little better with some models, but they seem half-hearted at best.

Anyone have any recommendations for good starbase models? Anyone feel up to the challenge of making some?

Perhaps just retex the stock one (from bc). The model is fairly decent, with a high end retext some of the people around here like wiley and limey can do...it ought to look decent.

I think Moonraker's model of the base in The Search for Spock is still the definitive version.  It may be old, but it still looks good.

I'd like to see it. Where can I get it?

It's not on Battleclinic- at least that I saw.

I do not know.  I'm not even 100% certain it's Moonraker's, as I don't have a readme for it.  It looked like several of the kitbashes on Battleclinic used it, though.  Ask ModelsPlease.  He might know more about it.
