Ack...my default screen capture software does not capture VPC images...

I wanted to show you guys some of the steps when installing Win 7. When I have time I'll build another image with Snag It installed on my box. Hopefully that will capture the VPC desktop.

Cool interested in this. I know the MS virtualation software I have, didn't work with XP, so I went with a sun version. will soon see.

Fully installed.

Stephen--which software are you using? I have an XPproSP2 image built on VPC.

XP home, SP2. Mind you, It's hard to post right now, I hit that Fair access Policy on my sat, so my system is slower then Molasses right now.

I tried with the sun version, and IT just stared at me.

Tried on my extra PC, and it locked up around 86%.  I'll probably use my G-parted ISO and just whipe everything on the partitions on my spare pc, then do a clean install. Providing my ISO isn't screwed up from download.

You need to upgrade to Sp3.. much more stable and a lot faster.

If you have any questions about configuring the VPC 2007 client or installing/configuring the VHD post them here so others can learn from it too. Thanks Stephen.

So the Virtualization from MS does work then on XP ToastyO? I'll grab it again today, and give it a shot then. Sun's just wasn't going to do it.

Just getting things configured.. however I don't like that the option for classic menu has been removed or that there is no IE Icon on the desktop.

Other than that.. system screams in speed, especially with Ready Boost enabled on a 4 GB memory stick.

Going to try out Age of Conan later tonight and Orion Pirates tomorrow.. will let you know how those work.

Just wanted to also state that the Windows 7 OS is wicked fast, especially on installs.

I've installed it on a VPC. Poked around and I'm liking what I see.

I don't miss or use the classic view, but I figure that classic view would be Vista for Win7 so there is no "classic view". But that could just be me.

Maybe if I get caught up with my other projects I'll play around with the GPOs...

This appeared on one of the Windows 7 blogs I suscribe to:

1.   It’s a Global Village. If you’ve tried to change your desktop wallpaper, you’ve probably noticed that there’s a set of wallpapers there that match the locale you selected when you installed Windows. (If you picked US, you’ll see beautiful views of Crater Lake in Oregon, the Arches National Park, a beach in Hawai’i, etc.) In fact, there are several sets of themed wallpapers installed based on the language you choose, but the others are in a hidden directory. If you’re feeling in an international mood, simply browse to C:\Windows\Globalization\MCT and you’ll see a series of pictures under the Wallpaper directory for each country. Just double-click on the theme file in the Theme directory to display a rotation through all the pictures for that country. (Note that some countries contain a generic set of placeholder art for now.)
