Hardcore scripts are not completely debugged.. I recommend running with standard scripts.. You can choose to test with the HC scripts for a day or so to see how things go.. but I would run with the ED version and not the XC version.

If the scripts bug, pull em one at a time.

Got a whacky idea regarding PvP kill VC points. Since we've got a bunch of new/returning players I don't want them to be worried about hurting their side if they loose a ship in PvP. I want them to be un-affraid to go out their and kill.

But I also want kills to mean something

So . . .

Hows abouts you (the player, not the character or ship) are only worth VC points if you have at least 1 confirmed kill?

2 for 2

However I think ship size needs to be taken into account.. I would think points or kills count while in line class ships. Double if you are killed in a specialty?

I'd like ships to cost DV's when they are destroyed or disengage. Let's say you lose 20 DV's in PvP. No biggie, go flip some hexes to make up for it. The DV's at the end of a round will be added up to offset or add to any Hex ownership progress directly on the map. I also want to cheapen ship prices so it doesnt hurt pp wise when you buy the farm. There will be a penalty box for losing a special ship so you'll have to wait a while or so to fly another one, but line ships wont have that problem. Die in one, go get another and hop right back into the action. No more hex ban rules. I want to use heavy metal rules to keep the playing field realistic as well.

The dynamic this will create is one where players will more likely stick around and fight it out and one where casual PvP engagements wont hurt when you lose a lot of them. You'll still have big fleet hunts, becuase in a big 3v3 a lot of DV's could be up for grabs... I think this will make the game more fun for everyone...

This could work to.

As far as heavy metal goes, I think at this time the ONLY rules needed are CnC rules are to what can fly together. 20 people can be on in DNs as long as they don't wing with each other.

A rule like that makes a sucky pilot like me a good pump to raise the value of the enemy. But not everyone has a royal suck on flying like me.

Well .. tested OP with Win 7 yesterday in all compatibility modes..

Improvements .. Windows 7 will operate all functions of OP in native mode (no compatibility mode needed)

However, map interaction with the D2 server is still fubared.. map update time has increased quite a bit.. instead of 2 min, it is now down to 30-45 seconds.. Still a campaign breaker.

I sent in trouble report to MS.. hopefully this will be something that they can fix prior to release of the full version.

Diz.. have most of your system configured and files restored.. just waiting on Paypal to recieve the transfer from my bank account in order to place order for your components. Hopefully that will be done by this afternoon.

Waiting on a call back from Newegg.. somehow their system screwed up with the order placement and Paypal.. money never transferred from Paypal to Newegg and newegg hasn't shipped.. I got off the phone with them today at around 3:30 PM.. they are looking into it and handling it on their end now and have promised to expedite the order as soon as they fix problem with Paypal. I did get the memory price locked with Newegg, so there is no need to worry about fluctuations in pricing.

He's done. But my dad is dying. He's on his deathbed which is why I havent picked up the comp yet. He is expected to live another 24-48 hrs. I was very close to him and he leaves behind his 3 grand kids and 2 sons and wife. He was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer 5 years ago and they thought the surgery and chemo got it all after a year. 3 and a half years later it returned with a vengeance. 40 brain tumors, Liver, Lungs and Lymph nodes, and other places... He didnt have a chance. He's resting peacefully now waiting to be with the lord...

They'll never be a cure for anything as long as treating the symptoms is more profitable than curing the disease. While I am a very strong fiscal conservative, this is the one place where I think socialism may be the answer.

My condolences Dizzy, losing a Father is one of the hardest things to cope with and I feel for you. At least he went peacefully and is no longer in pain.
