Kt'Hyla's Tagor Talla RCA WIP, help?

First pic is Kt'Hyla's original ship as ported first to BC by Starforce2 then to SFC by ModelsPlease. The second is where I'm at now. I'm reasonably happy with it thus far, except the underside-aft. I've got a couple of problems to overcome that I will likely need some help on if anyone's willing. I'm definitely not a modeler so I'm not sure what is causing it but if you look at the pictures, you can see that some textures appear lighter than others. I've tried playing with the light maps but that seems to have little to no effect. Part of my problem with the underside-aft is seen in the third picture, the texture in question is also used on the rear weapons mounts, so any detail you place on the texture turns up there and obscures the weapons.

Additionally, if anyone's interested, I'd love to have a version with thu11s' nacelles. I'm not sure how they would look mounted the same as the original ones, I was thinking more upright under the ends of the wings, with a slight inward tilt . . . like Klingon nacelles.

that and the streaching issue needs solving. Other than that I think it'd look better with the nacelles it has. Additionaly, you could try the trigular version of cormorant/killerhawk nacelles.

Here's a little progress, Fig 1 is how I'd like the underside to look. The bird and wings line up pretty good, but as you can see in Fig 2, it doesn't look so good elsewhere. If I could assign two plain green textures to those locations, I could make something more suited to them.

Also, I still don't know how to solve the lighting problem . . . I didn't adjust brightness or sharpness in the picture.

You can use gmax to remap the textures and lit maps. Gmax is free and has full working sfc plugins(w/ brk mod!). ;)

Well, I hope you solve the issue, because I know someone who, when they get time, will port a few of his others including a double hull warbird like the tng one but done in the style of the above ship. If you still have the retexture bug by then I can send'em over.

ya know NS, I am wondering if you shouldn't just try sampling the thulls color schemes and using it to convert the original textures of the tagor? It already has feathers, and once that is done you could add other details to it. I am wondering if that would be easier than trying to fix all the mapping errors resulting from adapting textures that were never meant for the ship?
