Actually I wouldn't mind seeing this myself.  Somehow I missed the thread earlier.  The ship it self is not a bad design,  Its just not the 1701.  It actually would make a better 1701-B if you observe the progression from A to C to D, it does fit.  The Excelsior just didn't seem to fit well.

I prefer "JJ-prise".  Less dignified.  Sound's like a name a three-year-old would give it.

I will admit that the mesh is built very well so far.  Good work on that Kreeargh.

But, as I always say, DIE BASTARDPRISE!!!!!  DIE DIE DIE!!!!!!  *grabs pictures of Bea Arthur and Andy Dick nude and shows them to the Bastardprise*

I almost find this amusing... but I must ask this why call it the "Bastardprise?" So what, it's a bad ship from, in my opinion, a horrible movie. But still.... so harsh. Why don't you just nuke the thing if you wanted to really do something and cuss the ship out. And yet another question, why does everyone hate the ship?

I'd say a knee-jerk reaction to the new ship.

I'm a TOS person, don't like very many of the newer ships in the movies.  I don't like the new ship really.  It is alright looking, but don't see reason to hate the thing.

I agree - I think it is indeed a "knee-jerk reaction." Thing is, I'm a fan of the reboot.

Centurus. While I'm not one to say "YOU CAN'T SAY THAT", I really feel you need to lay off on the "Bastardprise" thing. It's become your holier-than-thou soapbox. I can't help but roll my eyes whenever I see you say it. Don't get me wrong, if you want to keep doin' it - I won't stop you, but it's just my friendly two-cents.

I ado agree, there is a difference from having an opinion on something and dragging something out to long.

We understand you don't like it.  It sort of the same thing that you just don't harp on SFC3 or OP if you don't like it.  Like it or not, it is part of Star Trek now.

I am not a big fan of the ship, but I will probably see another of the movies if they come out (or hit TV with a new series).  I don't hate the ship, it is just a design I don't agree with fully.

I prefer the pre-official "Rumor Enterprise" shown here; http://trekweb.com/stories.php?aid=478fb53d481d0&topBrowse=all .  It looks much closer to the original, and I especially love the image of her in orbit, which I refer to as the "Sunset Run" image.  I wish they had gone with that one.  Wouldn't mind a MODel of her, in fact.

Think you can download that mesh at Sci-fi Meshes or at least contact the author from there.

The newest Enterprise is a ugly ship to me no way around it. Kreeg looks like you got a good start on it, keep up the work. I do however like what ppl are doing with the Kevin, basing some ships from it for the general look. I like those versions that are starting to show up across the net

For the record I think Kreeg is doing a fine job modelling the ship.

Well I've kept Quiet for a while about this. Kreeg, Great work on the mesh, If you need some texture help, I can do some little bits for you if you want them.

As for the design in general the nacelles, forward part of the secondary hull and the neck (Neck is a bit too far back IMO) and the saucer are spot on, the rear of the secondary hull is too narrow and the pylons are a bit OTT. I also agree with Gafy The Kelvinprise bashes that have been popping up are a very nice idea, they remind me something like what Mudd makes.

Not that I'm trying to talk you out of this Kreeg as a good SFC version is needed. The current BC one is stupidly high on polies, and the others for SFC.. Well they don't work too well. But would you be maybe willing to compromise or make an alternate version that incorporates the design that ReyvinVinnex suggested? As that connie is so choice..... Come on I will pay you in candy or cookies.... Or maybe a bribe might help.... Kidding, Keep up the good work and don't let all this talk of the poor design put you off. Also I suggest maybe Contacting the owner of the BC model for use of his textures. They would benefit you amazingly well. As I won't be able to get you that high a quality texture.

personally, I wouldn't compromise on it.  But making a second one as requested would be nice.  But heck, the first one has to leave dry-dock first.  ;)

Sad part is I like the new Enterprise way more then the Kelvin.  I just don't like the shurlle bay/secondary hull on a stick.  To me the amount of work it would have taken to add that little thing would have been better to just enlarge the main hull more, add another level or two on the back of the main hull.  It is just eeeehhh.  But glad some people love it.

"Good on ya" Kreeargh for doing this. For everyone that doesn't like the design there's someone who wants it and will really appreciate that you did one. It's the same as every time someone does a SFB design. There's always a few who have an uncontrollable urge to say they "don't like SFB designs". There's still plenty of DLs of the models though, when someone does make one.

I tried real hard to get a hold of Gabe Koerner to get release permission for the model of his design that I did. He never answered my PMs or emails, though. He got the PMs, but was either too busy or couldn't be bothered to respond, unfortunately.

I've actually seen too many for my own good. Perhaps you should make sure your path is clear before you warp in any direction next time. I'm sure we don't want some poor alien's home destroyed because you warped right into it... and perhaps through it as well.

Looks nice, Kreeargh. Gmax can do renders with yafray. I've never bothered to see how it's done. I'll check it out and try and do a tutorial on how it works.

I don't think you need to get permission from P81, just give him proper credit for any of his work used.  But I could be mistaken.

Hey Kreeargh..

Don't know when I could do it, but I'd like to play with this mesh a bit myself.  I'll be honest, I don't like the new movie design at all, and think that it's wrong on a lot of levels.  But that doesn't mean that I don't want to see your model get out.  So, I'm willing to help.  :)

Drop me a PM and I'll pass along an email address you can send it to.  No promises on timeliness though, but I'd like to give it a shot..

Do you care if its mapped proper? I would LOVE to see what you can do with it not many want to help these days. But no pressure I was planing on using my own white texture format i did with my tos model pack instead of useing the other textures.
I have decided since the model is NOT totally accurate i might as well release it the way i want it in my own trek mods. The texture will problay be a  single 2048x 2048 so it can be used for most game formats i work with these days. I will send it to you as soon as i get the mesh finished .

I don't really like the alternate universe excuse JJ used to pass of the movie nor have i seen the movie yet but I don't hate the design i work it in to my "idea of trek" which everyone has.
In my little trek universe this  "new design" is  a test bed for tech not the final version of the constution class.  I don't remember if the enterprise was refit 2 or 3 times in the trek timeline. But in my timeline this ship was the first of the constution classes which it was refit  4 times in total to end out its era in trek 3. This design was created for war and defence. I see design features that come from a mix of 3 eras tos , tmp and enterprise era to appease all trek fans which is the real issue of most trek fans i know. I like to go with it and make up my own crap between the movies, try to fill in the entire trek story tos - tng with out gaps and mistakes like in canon trek. To those trek fans who don't like the movie. The way i see it is don't bitch cause they screwed up trek use your imagination to fix the errors and and have fun with it.  Call this Nx 1701 if you wish but be happy CBS or whoever spent whatever million $ these days to make a trek movie and hope for more. At least hollywood even though liberal as a communist it is still Made in America ? :-\

Okay, teaser.. but less than what I sent Kreeargh.. ;)

Started on the nacelles and saucer (am a bit farther along than this picture now, but this is a beginning to show you where it's starting.)  Recoloured and reworked the nacelle caps to look a bit closer to the new movie ship, and am working now on the bridge module.  There's a few small mapping things to sort out, but some of what's currently set makes a few things easier, believe it or not.  :)

The new nacelle cap is Kreeargh's work, (as always, I like to enhance what is currently there because then I'm building on what the original author did, not replace it), I've just recoloured it, and layered it with itself to give it a bit more depth.

When done, I'll have to do a few tweaks to the mesh (adding in the illumination map materials to the mesh and a bit of remapping), but it's just some small corrections.  Kreeargh has done a nice job on it, so it's easier to work with than some I've worked with in the past.  :D

If you like what I'm doing, thank Kreeargh.. he's made this pretty easy.  :)

Btw, does anyone know where I can get some actual movie shots of the new ship?  I'm currently working based on a mesh at SciFiMeshes that I found some images of.. but it'd be nicer to have some perspective shots of the movie ship, or even the released toy just to be sure that what I'll be finishing will look closer to the ship, rather than the SciFiMesh ship..

Couple quick shots... working on the front deflector and the illumination texture for it.  Plus also pulled it into 3dsmax and flipped the deflector polies to let them display normally.  :)

Work is coming along... I have a temp texture on the saucer top while I'm figuring out placement for everything on the new ship.. and some temp illumination maps as well.
