All VF squadrons please report to the flight deck: SDF1 WIP
« on: November 20, 2008, 12:23:30 pm »
I know it been a long time since i have posted anything here but i have not been idle and my latest obsession has been keeping my skills from rusting away LOL. the SDF1 is in no way exact to the original anime or movie but a combination of the two with a lot of my own ideas thrown in to smooth out the two. She weighs in at just short of 15000 polygons and both support ships can be removed easily if desired. at this time the ship is non-transformable but i may revisit that issue at a later date. i hope you all like the little ship i have modeled and please let me know if you have any ideas for improvements.

Always happy to see some SDF-1 Love...

Anyway it appears you have a good grasp on the overall shape, the main difference between your version and others out there are in the details or transformation specific parts/joints.

(thumbs up)

I look forward to seeing you refine it in the future (especially since you used Deadelus and Prometheus instead of ARMDS, pro RT!)
Or at least the original Macross TV version (it wasn;t until DYRL they switched to ARMDS and now the anti RT people usually use that version of SDF-1 as a statement I guess)...

Have you looked at Ancient Angel's conversion? IDK if MP also has one or just did AA's for SFC3, but I also have Trashman's he did for me for Freespace2.

In that version he balanced the anime look with what it would be like in real life compared to VT's (like Size)
Tragically he lost the Storm Attacker model below and we only have cruiser (normal) mode now.

If you ever make one like that available I'd be VERY interested...  ;D

Looks good. The mod conversion came out real well. No strange smoothing problems, or anything. Well done.

LOL Ah yes, I can see now. Try and set the smoothing to around 30° and try again. That should eliminate 99% of that.
