Question about Visual Studio
« on: February 20, 2009, 05:00:57 pm »
I really really REALLY want to learn how to edit/create missions for SFC3, and I have read that you need Microsoft Visual Studio to do so. I have downloaded a free/trial copy of the program(http://www.microsoft.com/express/vc/) and have also downloaded the SFC mission scripting API(http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/file/SFC3_Scripting_API_Repacked;45807).

The problem is, I really dont know how to use any of this:p I considered buying the 'Visual Studio for Dummies" book, but first I wanted to check in here to see if anyone who knows how to use VS has any advice. Thanks in advance for the help!

SFC3 scripting requires Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0, that's the only version which will work. The trial copy that you just downloaded is not compatible.

A legal copy of Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 still costs lots of money. It's not something that you can download for free.
