Hacking SFC
« on: November 05, 2008, 10:28:26 pm »
both RFA-Joker and THC~69DRACO69...as well as a few others have insulted my intelligence as a pilot and have said..."nice hack"...

is it just a nice way of saying..."you're a cheater"?

only thing for sure...i am no cheater...so i got to thinking about this hacking term being thrown out at me...

here is what a google search on the above question found...

# one who works hard at boring tasks

well putting in 8 or more hours on a server during one day for several at a time on end sometimes...can get kinda boring...so i guess this one fits...  :P

# chop: cut with a hacking tool

well if you consider the fact they get their arses handed to them...this one might work...   ;)

# machine politician: a politician who belongs to a small clique that controls a political party for private rather than public ends

is KBF a political party?  hell thats why we have LK!  so this one is out!

# be able to manage or manage successfully; "I can't hack it anymore"; "she could not cut the long days in the office"

OMFG!  this one totally fits...tho ive only ever once actually said i was throwing in the towel and quitting a server as "i just couldnt hack it anymore"...though it didnt work...LK wouldnt let me...but how many times was i the only Coalition the Alliance saw on a number of servers?    :banghead:

# cut away; "he hacked his way through the forest"

ok this one fits too...i guess i just kick their arses hacking away at their hulls... :pirate:

# a mediocre and disdained writer

well on some days...and thats all i have to say about that!

# a tool (as a hoe or pick or mattock) used for breaking up the surface of the soil

hmmm...T00L...good band...great pilot...and fits too...though ramming speed doesnt work as well as id like...

# kick on the shins

:woot: last time i kicked a Shin...he went running to the Alliance...

# cab: a car driven by a person whose job is to take passengers where they want to go in exchange for money

a C7 is NOT a Taxi...repeat...NOT a Taxi...   :drink:

# an old or over-worked horse

over-worked maybe...but not old...   :D

# fix a computer program piecemeal until it works; "I'm not very good at hacking but I'll give it my best"

OMFG!  refer to DIF-Des who pretty much remoted into my PC to fix it...

# a horse kept for hire

is that what all those patches of medal/awards i got sitting around the room from LK are?   8)

# significantly cut up a manuscript

OMFG!  this is totally fun!  if u play in my room...you play with rules...why would a dude with rules...putting limits on what u can fly...or what race u can fly with? hack?  im at odds on this one...  :rules:

# cough spasmodically; "The patient with emphysema is hacking all day"

this ones out.

# a saddle horse used for transportation rather than sport etc

again a C7 is NOT a Taxi!

so if im keeping score...im a total "hack"...but somehow i think they are calling me a cheater...   :cuss:

I think you were being accused of cheating.  Draco has gotten into arguments with people accusing them of that in the past.

draco is just one of a few that have thrown out the "hack" remark...

and i know it meant they were calling me a cheater...

im beginning to realize why many choose to stay away from GSA...

heck...its this kind of bs that drove me to dyna years ago...

Some people use the remark jokingly, and are not serious.  Please don't leave GSA.  Otherwise, Roy and I will be stuck flying with #3 on your list.

i love this game too much...leaving i wont do...just reached that limit where i needed to vent...

those that have flown with me over the years will see the sarcasm in what i wrote...

that although im joking about it...i dont take kindly to being called a cheater...

friends joking around calling each other cheaters is a whole different scenario than whats happened with me...

some people just dont "Die With Honor"...and instead of being a bigger person they submit to being a sore loser and start accusing you of something you simply do not do...

After 3 years of Mplayer, StarLance, GZ and GSA that's pretty much what did it for me...
Even worse were the ones that would barely beat you after a 30-40 min battle and then type "I so kicked yer arse", or something to that effect in the lobby... ::)

Keep smacking them down, Dib!
Maybe some weekend here I can manage to stay up a little later and get on with ya.
That 3 hour time difference between us is tough during the work week.

Some of the few pilots that still play in gsa and their skill level is below standards , are not aware of  the game bugs.
In order to get a better picture of these guys most of them host only 300 adv!

Yes, it is funny how the guy who says "Die with honor" always flies maulers, and the second he dies in a battle, quits and does stuff like what happened yesterday. Happy when he wins, and a sore loser when he doesn't.

I think it is partially a matter of people on GSA not understanding the gameplay rules. For example, not realizing that someone could have shield reinforcement going on, and they think it's cheating. BTW, you first got me into reinforcement and I got a little scrutiny once, because it does look like shields recharging very quickly, so I wouldn't be surprised if they saw your shields and got accusative. Or in a recent stepped fleet battle, a Hydran CHC destroying a Gorn dreadnought: it sounds cheap at first, but the Gorn was already damaged and facing the Hydran with its rear shield and no reinforcement...and we know how Hydrans do in a knife fight.
Then the rest of this attitude is caused by people who never like to lose.

Glad you're not seriously thinking of leaving GSA. Knight is right, there are some players we don't necessarily want to wing with. If we can get a good number of 'respectable' players (how snobby am I to call us that?) who don't blindly accuse others and ruin the fun, we can balance out any negative trolls.

Taldren made this game cheater proof. If someone has modded files you get a notice in the game rooms chat window when they ready up. If there are no such messages after everyone clicks ready and you loose you can be sure you lost, period.

:o Almost... Fortunately u can spot the turn mode cheat... the ppd cheat can be mitigated, but there's nothing to do about the shield cheat other than equal opportunity enjoyment... EDIT: oops! forgot the most imortant cheat of all! Dropping an admin shuttle on Tool.

Well, hehe, if you fly with or against Draco long enough he'll get around to calling everyone a cheat.  He hates to lose.

But be forewarned, you better "buck up" if you have ambitions of taking your game to "above average" or greater, because with success comes accusations of cheating.

Ahh, its too bad I had to switch to a DSL router I used to host my own room on cable.  Always made sure the sides were as even as I could, and I usually outlawed TUGS, restricted certain Maulers, carrier, escorts etc and IF you were in my room you'd usually have to fly at least one game with tournament ships.  :)

But...maybe I can get it fixed.

After years of being behind a DSL router I never could host, no issues with gameplay tho. The only way for me to host was for me to bypass the router and plug directly into the modem, which meant none of the other 3 computers in the house could go online... ::)
I could never figure it out, it was frustrating to be sure.
