Another Romulan Warbird Under Construction
« on: October 14, 2008, 06:48:10 pm »
Another of Atolm's fabulous warbirds is under construction.  Although she is in the early stages of development, I thought I'd show the initial progress just to see if anyone is paying attention.  lol

These designs look interesting, but why are the edges so thick?

I think so to I would thin them out at the wings. The farther out you go the thinner the hull would look better. You can keep the front area wide still but might want to round them a bit and make the wings thinner as they go back
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

I mean, all of the Atlom-rendered warbirds look like fine examples... but all those edges are so blocky! They'd look much better if they were tapered off to look thinner.

Everything is just temporary at this point, especially the textures. Still a lot of work to be done here...wings need to be thinned out, etc. Also, I am considering two versions...one similar to the one shown and a second one with the wings up.

Lookin' Good!

I like the original design, but I do have to say the wings up adds a little something. It makes the ship seem like it's in motion even though it's sitting still. So if you do only one mesh - my vote would be for wings up.

The wings up version is the actual design so if I get limited in time, it will be the one that gets done but hopefully I can do both,  Been working on the bridge area as of late.

Making a little progress on this warbird...remember everything is still temparary at this point and the intent is to do two versions.  One with the wings like this and a second with the wings up.

Again, why are the wing edges so thick? Why not taper the ends of the trailing feathers?

Okay, the mesh for the wings down version is 99% complete...a tweak here or a tweak there is all that left.

Now, wouldn't it be cool if the wings could raise and lower.  Unfortunately, it isn't within my skill set to do so.  :(  Nor can Milkshape handle such things either.

Probably will work on the uplifted wing version (mesh) next then do one texture set.

Okay, the mesh for the uplifted wing version is mostly completed.  So what do you all think?

Furyofaseraph, I'll send you the meshes soon if you still want to tweak out a down winged version.
