The writer of the piece (Mary-Jo Foley) doesn't really know that much about Midori.  If she did she wouldn't have asked if anyone had any more information on Midori.  Sounds like a totally speculative piece on something that might not ever see the light of day.  On the other hand if what she is saying about Eric Rudder and the others is true than we could be see a "Rebels of the Empire" part 2.  Midori is slightly interesting but it’s far too early to even give it any real consideration.  Now had she the words "open source" then I would have given the article more seriously because that type of work would almost certainly see the light of day.

This seems to be merely a 2nd phase of an existing research project by Microsoft.  While elements coming from this research may be in future versions of Windows (and other operating systems)  I doubt that there will ever be a Windows directly evolved from Midori.

I stumbled across a couple of interesting Midori pages.
