IT Certifications

Those of you who do certifications, what do you think of the Transcender products?  I'm talking the CISSP in late August and the ISC2 reference guide is over 1000 pages.  At the depth this material is tested (250 questions in 6 hours) there's just no way to study the whole guide to that level and discern what the testable material is (Most IT Security folks tend to work in a couple of the knowledge domains, but the test is on all of them).

The domains are:

Security Management
Security Operations
Access Control
Telecom and network security
Security Architectures
Physical Security
Laws, Investigations, and Ethics
Cryptography
Business Continuity Planning
Application Security

I've picked up the Transcender study guide and the sample exams, but I've not used their products before and I am concerned that the depth might not be enough (250 pages of very compact material and 700 practice questions with explanations).  Anyone used Transcender before?  Does the guide cover the material adequately?

Transcender is fine, but I'm not sure it'll get you ready for the test. It'll help, but at best, it'll only give a good indication of what you are weak.

Do you know if you have a New Horizons CLC in your city?

I was going to say no, off the top of my head, but apparently we do.

If it's in your range I suggest the Shon Harris training for CISSP. See if they have it in their Mentored Learning.

Cool. No, you have to renew every year, meeting the MTM requirements and such.
