Final Round 5 for the CUGS July Championship GSA Match:

Adv era Med map spd 9 FEDX-Master Zen vs me with identical ships, the I-XCA. After a see-saw battle that could have gone either way with both of us solidly damaged, my PPD fired 1st and flashed Zen's PPD on our final offensive pass and Zen's PPD never was able to fire. His last try extinguished, he SDed.

GG!

Thanks go to Dif-Josh and CUGS for organizing the tourney and putting up some money to win which I will be donating to Dynaverse.net and thanks to all my victims, especially TUS. 1st time I've ever tractored a cloaked rom into a rock, hehe. ;) gg's to all.

EDIT: In 4 rounds, I think we had 3 no X games, 1 with x Late era and one with ADV. It was a nice variety of matches and matchups, although I think the 1st game with everyoine flying the GHDD was ridiculous. That was torture... I hate long game plasma ballet.

Now I don't feel as bad after my Round one debacle.   ;D

112 Mid was just silly.  Out battle was myself and MasterZen both in G-HDD ships.   We had gone 2 1/2 hours, he scored 2 internals to 0 but I had to concede because I had to go to bed.  It's just too hard to crack shields in a ship that has 3 Ph1 on a broadside.  Glad to see he made it to the finals.

I took a D5K against my opponents Gorn HDD and was able to win. More luck than skill on that one.  ;D

Congrats to Dizzy on his win.  :woot:

The next CUGS Tourney will be 2v2, I don't remember the date atm.

It's even funnier than that.   During my round 1 fight we're on comms talking about what ship would be best SPECIFICLY for this role.

It was pure luck... me going up against Tus in a rock field... I KNEW he was gonna fly Rom and i KNEW he would castle and cloak and Tus is a master at that. Taking a conventional approach to fighting Tus would be tough, so I figured I had one ace in the hole he couldnt counter... A Hydran cruiser with tons of power that can run 31 with a lvl 4 trac. DH and I brainstormed thru the list and found one. And it worked! He didnt have the power to charge a repel at 4, cloak and arm. I love rocks.

Actually at sp 4-5 w/ a KE I do have enough power to have a lvl 5 and charge (especially if I downgrade my R to an S) however i lose any shield reinforcement in the process (as an aside, a WE only has enough power to pull a lvl 4 while cloaked and at sp 0).  To be honest I really wasn't expecting any more than a 2, maybe a 3 at sp 31... its what happens when you don't know all the ships ;).   It was a good expiernce though, I was actually able to think of a few interesting tatics that i can do in the future to prevent that from happening again so it wasn't like it was a big lose for me, just a good learning expierence ;).
