You know who you have to thank for this kick ass notebook? Gateway of all people. Their FX series notebooks under cut ALL of the competition in price only, performance was amazing, and it just put the pressure on

Looks sweet, I want one now. Damn you. Carrying this to school would suck though, and it probably isn't an auto shop friendly design

this is BETTER (except for the Gateway can do RAID 0) than that gateway notebook and cheaper.  I don't like 17" notebooks anyway, too big to really be a laptop.

I know, the gateway is HUGE, but 15.4 isn't that much smaller. From a carryable standpoint, this is barely doable 0_0 my 14.1" IBM is heavy enough as it is

Its from 2001, not exactly light That and 2 textbooks+binder = heavy enough

I carry around a very similar edition to the Gateway 17" P model FX series.. the full keyboard with number pad is VERY convenient and nice, but oh yea, it is pretty big as well. For the 17", it really depends though on how willing you are to carry it, if you take it with you a lot  .
