just let me know if sfc3 is dead?  :'(

seems mighty strange the irregular connections, i am sure other sfc3 players and forums would lke ta know also. I am getting 'e' mails all day, but cant answer them.

If you have killed SFC3 off please let us know, thats all we ask. :coolsmiley:

WTF?

No, the SFC3 directory server is still running. Nobody else seems to have this issue (unless, as you imply, you speak for all SFC3 players).

Every time you report it I check it and it is still running with people loggin in as I watch. Sigh. I'll go check it one more time...

In the meantme, do me a favour and give me a complete inventory of all so-called security software installed on your computer and exactly what operating system you are using. I might be able to tell you why you have trouble connecting.

I just looked and it is still running. No one has logged in while I'm watching yet though. Tell you what, I'll setup my old PC that has an SFC3 install on it and I will login to the dynaverse and take a screenshot to demonstrate that it is indeed still running.

Took me a while to get the old machine up and running and configured. I'd forgotten about this:
http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163344600.msg1122438939.html#msg1122438939

Anyway, once I got the old girl going I got logged in just fine. Saw five servers running. (see attached)

Give some detail on your connection type, router or not, operating system and security software. Everything seems in order on our end so I'll help you get your connection sorted out as best I can.

hi,
Strange nobody is logged in?

O.K. I have two operating systems on two desktops on my network,
1 runs firefox with AVG security.

The second runs Vista home premium with IE and has Mcfee security.

Windows firewall and both security software firewalls off

D-link router which also has the firewall off.

Port settings are as follows:
TCP 26100 - 26110
UDP 2300 - 2400
TCP 27100 - 27110
UDP 27100 - 27110
TCP 6073 - 6073
TCP 8085 - 8085
UDP 8085 - 8085
TCP 47624 - 47624
TCP 2300 2400
TCP 6667 - 6667
All 6500 - 6515

I have tried setting the router so i can run a server also, I have 3 new servers ready to go for sfc3.

Hope that gives ya a handle on my problem, I connect 1 day then cant the next.  :crazy2:

Worfy  ;D

What exact model of d-link (and fimrware version)? (to find a full manual)

Here is the big question: is your lan configured statically?

If that question is confusing check over the links in this post:
http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163364592.msg1122982674.html#msg1122982674

If that is just more confusing, Then I'll get ahold of your router manual and a bunch more information from you and walk you through it.

Hi, It is D-LinkL 2640R.

I have just realised something,  grrrrrrr :knuppel2:

I upgraded to IE8 when it stopped working, I re-installed sfc3 and it hooked up straight away.

Could it be the IE8 upgrade?  :banghead:

Worfy  ;D

Maybe worth placing some of these latter comments in the SFC3 behind a router forum

Very interesting Worfhonour... Thanks for letting us know how it turned out.

Which addons are not compatible in IE8? (and are they IE8 addons? or SFC3 addons?)

Gets me to thinking that if we could strip IE8 from a vista or Win7 install maybe we can get the Dynaverse 2 working on those platforms?

Hey wait! Isn't the EU version of Win7 supposed to ship with choice of browser? It might not have to have IE installed? We need that here too!

Oh... I think Vista shipped with IE7?

I am beginning to share other's ire at the integration of IE into windows. This question (above) should not even cross my mind as a possibility with good OS design.

Hello,
An update:
IE8 addons not compatible unless ya re-install older software, dont understand all this but had an IT guy check it out. ::)

One last thing, if ya want to play the 464 server dont upgrade tour gamespy account, it just corrupts the servers.

Worfy :D ;D
