Where you downloading it from? The main site seems to be overloaded.

I hate the address bar now.  Hate it.  You get these monstrous entries in the drop-down list and the search functionality for address is not what it was before.  It now looks for content on visited pages instead of the URL itself.

I saw comments about it on /. and I expected to be bothered by it as well, but I hardly notice, really, I just keep using the address bar as I always have. Currently all I see is dramatically improved overall performance.

You could try setting browser.urlbar.matchBehavior to 2 to simulate the old behaviour if it bothers you that much.

I installed the oldbar extension, which reverts the look and functionality to Firefox 2.  I don't know who thought that this crapulent address bar in the new version was acceptable.  It looks ugly and functions oddly.

I prefer what's been around for a long time, type in site name and click go.

This and the Security Vulnerability in FF 3 when going to spyware infected sites.. more reasons why I like a properly configured IE .. especially IE 8. Using IE now for 12+ years.. 0 spyware, virus, Trojan, or tracking cookies.. :)

I put FF on my old rig for a week.. FF2 I believe.. and within a week, I had 2 Viruses.. not something to convince me to switch over.. now that IE 8 is Acid 2 compliant, and is being patched up for Acid 3 for the Final Release.. FF still has a long way to go.. IE was Acid 2 before FF and IE will be Acid 3 before FF.. and if Safari can't get things together soon, IE will pass them up as well.

IE 8 (in IE 8 compliance mode) supports all the Alphas in PNG now even in IE 7 compatibility mode (non compliance mode).

I never did like the FF look. It is too jumbled for my tastes.. IE looks good out the get go, and simple right click commands allows you to configure on the fly within 1 or 2 seconds.. I'm not sure how FF is on this.. but IE ito me is extremely user friendly, especially IE8.

They had a cake for the launch.

When it comes to the address bar all you do is type in the address and hit enter and it help out for coping and pasting in several thread. What I like about FF is that there is Ad Block Plus and No Script which doesn't come with IE as I get pops up on IE.

Got rid of FireFox three months ago.  After an update, it started locking up my computer.  I don't need that.

I keep it as a secondary browser, where if IE doesn't work on a site, Firefox probably will.

After a patch to IE (on Win98SE) I was no longer able to access the internet with any programs, so I stopped using IE as of version 5.x.  I moved on to Mozilla (now Sea Monkey) then to Firefox 1.0.  Of course I now mostly use Firefox 2.0.0.14 on LinuxMint.

IE has pop up blocker built in.. it is defaulted to a medium setting.. you can go into Internet Tools and go into Security, and click on Properties for Pop Up Blocker and set to maximum..  You will get 0 pop ups.. However if a site needs to have pop ups, then all you have to do is right click and select Do Not Filter This Site or use the yellow ribbon at the top of the explorer window..

In IE 6, it was a separate DL add on. It is integrated in IE 7 and newer.

IE 7 and newer also has a Phishing filter built in as well.
