OCI
« on: June 04, 2008, 01:08:58 am »
Now as I move closer to trying to get a server up and running, I want to move to SQL and OCI interface to it.  Where can I find the OCI at (beg Bonk?) or is it only for XC use and I need to have my son work out a webpage with SQL interfaces in it ourselves?  Just wondering, hate to have to double up on effert that has already been done.  Thanks.

Kurt

another question in the same vein, how hard (and how to go about in general) is it to run the serverkit and OCI on a remote server?  Or is running local the best option for noobs?

Here is a somewhat dated copy of the oci code: ftp://www.dynaverse.net/sfc2_op/Tools_and_Utilities/webmap_op_wips.zip

I'll post a newer one for you soon.

I strongly recommend running the oci webserver local to the dynaverse db server. Otherwise it needs a really fast internet connection and preferably an SSL connection to MySQL. Both are not an issue if local.

Oh, and it currently requires an SMF 1.0.x install for authentication, as it is integrated. Though I'm not sure if I removed that for that wip... It might work with SMF 1.1.x or 2 but I have not tried, I expect there have been changes to SMF's SSI.php.

Thanks Bonk.  I will start seeing how it works for me.  I am shooting to get a server up by the time AOTK runs out, but I will probably run late on it.  (only a few hours to work on it at anytime)

well, peeking through the code for the OCI, found the file that needs to be moded to work with my game.  Now working on getting the rest set up so I can test and see if my system can run this all without to much lag.

( :mischief: not only am I working on expanding my C++ knowledge back to where it should be, now I have to work on PHP also, oh and SQL[can't forget the SQL] my day is never boring)

Yeah, I have been putting off learning web programming (really anything related to the web, it's just a flash in the pan you know).

So I guess I need to work on it, it does seem to be staying around.

The other question I have, Pesty, could I get the config files for the hardcore server so I can see how the setting are done for it.
