Since I was already "outed."

Sulu's Husband's F-DNG Engaged Deaman's H-IDh and Marstone's H-LC in possibly the strangest mission of all time.   Both Hydrans disengaged.   5 Kitty points for the DN running off.

New style was created, Suncastling!

I'm off drinking, I'll be back later if you want a shot at me when I'm half in the bag.

Sorry, I didn't save it.  Watching paint dry would be about as exciting.

MuadDibs C8VK chased off Zenos DNG

was then ran off by Sulus in his CVAR...

*Just for the record -This run off VCpoints system blows. If 2 fleets engage and trade shots and bit off more then they can chew and bail after taking some hvy dam you get banned from the hex ain't that enough already?Who wants to fly a cap ship when anything you do cost you points wether you put up a good fight or not.The Underdog vc points i have no problem, with but even strength VC points weather you fight or dont sucks. As for as im concerned this rule sucks ALOT of fun out.

The rule is there to prevent people from tying up pilots in a PVP match when other team members run missions under you.. It is also designed to help keep the big iron off the front lines.. If you want to fly big iron, then be willing to risk it or give up points. This is the reason for Line Ships.. they are free to fly all you want and to be expendable in PVP without giving up points.

Players take a mission to have PVP, but when they start to lose a mission, they hug the border as long as they can and then depart.. either fight it out to the death, or leave the map once you are hurt and not having a chance of winning.. don't tie up other people's time hugging the border for a quick escape, especially when you don't have enough ship to put up a fight or if you are unwilling to lose the ship..

That is one of my pet peeves for PVP so far.. they tie me up even when they know they are beaten.. either leave the map right away, for fight it out and the best player gets to claim a kill. Don't hug a border taking up a players time when you know you can't win.. first it is unsportsmanlike, second, many people have limited time to play, third it does neither side any benefit unless it is a method to allow their side to run missions underneath, which then makes it an exploit.

I don't care for the "points for disengagement" thing either. it's hard enough to get pilots online these days to even play, much less fly Capitol ships with only points for ship loss. And line ships aren't "free" if lost unless you're alone, and in a game where teamwork is the key, it's not doing much for encouraging that.
And having such a rule to actually discourage players from being on the front in a capitol ship...? Sounds kind of self defeating right there. I can't see how discouraging pilots to fly on the front is ever going to bring any life back to this ever shrinking community.
We all have to learn somehow, and try telling someone who is just getting into this game that and see how long they want to keep playing if every time they even have to run, they cost their team points.
And I ALWAYS tell my pilots if they really think they have no chance of winning to disengage rather than just flying around in circles doing nothing, despite the fact that over the years that tactic has been used and abused by nearly everyone.
Maybe that needs to be addressed and enforced internally by RMs and the like... ;)
Another thing that is true for both sides is that not everyone lives for PvP, thus why we always have map VCs. In the past we've tried server with "pure" PvP, satisfying some, but not all, just as servers with no PvP VCs satisfy everyone.
Maybe this is one of those "Needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few"...
IMOHPO... ;D

well crap...i got out of my BB/DN last night and picked up a C7 to at least salve myself from point run offs...but now i see i read the rules wrong and any cap ship that leaves is worth points...whatever!

since this is the case and the reasons behind this are basically to not waste a players time...droners should be added to the cap list...especially since many will not even engage their target so much as to chuck drones while running around at high speeds...then speeding off map when they are out...and in most cases...they run to the farthest border...to waste even more of your time...

i mean if it was me in a droner and i came across a BB of any kind...i would just consider the game a loss and move on to another hex without wasting the BBs time...who probably just showed up to chase me out...job well done...no wasted time...would be nice to see other players embrace this philosphy...

Points for running off a capital ship is so people in those ships actually stay and fight.  Its to prevent people from flying DNs to jump cruisers and then run off the second an opponent shows up in a big ship to challenge them.

if you can't stand the heat, stay out the captians chair.

That seems a bit too targeted of a rule.  I'd argue that people should have the option to use a capital ship just in the manner that you describe that this rule is meant to combat.  It's an accepted role for these ships.  And the player that does stay and fight but loses is penalized for doing what you want them to do, stay and fight.  I say, points for kills only.  This running off business is just your way of penalizing people for being pussies in your opinion.  The strategic victory of kicking a capital ship out of a hex should be enough.
