Why speed 10
« on: June 02, 2008, 07:19:29 am »
A quick question for the group mind here.

When I am flying in a mission, everyonce in awhile my ship drops to speed 10.  I don't change the speed it just happens.

I will be following someone at speed 24 or so and then it will be pulling away from me, I look down and I am at speed 10.

??????

Happen to anyone else?

would this have to do with the base settings for power allocation?  But why speed 10?

Have you used Shift-Scroll Lock to save your settings for that ship?  If so did you set it for speed 10 and then hit R for Red Alert during the mission?

It could happen based on power allocation if weapons are set to a higher priority than movement and you have just fired, power left after charging weapons and other higher priority tasks might just make it 10 unless you have damage or some still charged weapons.

There is also a bug on load up that sometimes has an AI presence try to take over control of your ship. You have to fight with it for all functions.

Yes, every one of my PVP defeats has been caused by this ;)

nope have never used the shift-scroll lock.  It has happened with different ship types not just the one.

I've seen that.  I've also seen (on rare occasions) where another player seems to have control over your ship.  On such occasions I've been able to maneuver the other ship and fire weapons as well as changing targets.  But neither of these would likely be changing things to speed 10 and no other overt changes.

Always speed 10 with different ships?   Hopefully someone can solve it as I don't have a clue at this point.
