....and Roms having a 50/50 split between plasmaF armed fighters and plasmaD armed fighters?

Why would I want to use a Plas-D armed fighter in SFC? If Dro-D wasn't so broken in Mid, we might be talking though...

Renegade, I understand your point, and I know what the answer will be anyway. Just thought the question needed asking anyway. As for fighters with defensive only plasma D, I can think of a good use for them - killing enemy fighters/drones, as theyt were intended to do.

J'inn lowers the binoculars from his face and peers out across the battlefield.

"Do you see that lone figure running over there?"

Taking the binoculars, TraceyG finds the individual and zooms in.

"Why yes... in a Federation uniform.. it looks like..."

Just then, a scream of engines was heard to rumble overhead as a wing of F-14s came thundering in on an attack run.
Snatching the binoculars back, J'inn says, "I gotta see this!"

In moments, the F-14 squadron had found they're target and unloaded their payload, a direct hit.

"Six large crates of ghouda, edam, and I think a few barrels of good ole cottage cheese as well. Oooooh, that had to hurt..."

I am somewhat apprehensive about these changes - fighters are far more vulnerable to phaser and PlasD than PFs are to phaser/drones.  I don't understand the NEC removal, being as the drone is the only real Fed defense against PlasF armed PF.  Something tells me that there are going to be a whole lot of unhappy people after a week or so...

Tracey walks up to the pile of cheese in various forms. The pile begins to move, Kimberly sits up slightly dazed...

"Now.... where's the burgandy.... I gotta have my burgandy.... and crackers....."

Kimberly passes out

Tracey raised an eyebrow, shakes her head and decides that she had better move to a safer spot just in case the burgandy shipment comes in.

What PlasF armed PFs? I believe there are no PFs in this campaign.

I don't think there will be any PF's involved in this mini-campaign.  So fears of PF cheese shouldn't be an issue.  And since the only little friend bad guys will be enemy fighters AMD's will be just as effective as D racks.

Laflin, it's fighters for all races - no PFs, hence the AMD/drone rack change on fed escorts. Escorts are intended to DEFEND friendly ships, not ATTACK enemy ships which is why they are called cheesy :P

"What?? You ordered whine with the cheese as well??"

Up in the sky, the F-!4 squadron is making a slow arc, cartwheeling around for a second attack run.

TraceyG starts running...

Is anything going to be done to limit carrier proliferation?

I know with the Fedration, the CVS+ and NVS are not as good, without the fighters, as their standard command counterparts.   How do the Gorn/Tholian/Romulan Strike Carriers compare?

Thanks for the clarification - and don't get me started on escort tactics.

The Gorn CV is based on the CL and retains all of the armament which means with an F-refit it could be dangerous.
The HDV is based on the HDD and like the HDP losses the S-Torp so it's not a big threat.
The Roms on the other hand use the same Sparrowhawk/Skyhawk style carriers not losing much in the way of weapons.
The Fed carriers should do fine.  The 2 you mentioned seem pretty decent in my trials of them.

This info is all purely from SFB so what Herr Burt is doing may be different.

Tholian carriers should compare well against the others.

What race is he replacing with Tholians???  Are they going to be non-player or is it an admin thing?
