win xp sp2 problem

well after i get my com back from the dead (mother board, power suply and main hd (it might be a way to get it back)) i reinstall win xp but my cd key was use too many time by me, i call windull and got a new cd key but now i can get the auto update to work and if i want to download it now it required ie7, but to get ie7 to work it seem that you need sp2 install, but to get sp2 you need ie7  :banghead: :help:

this com is ok but not mine, so how do i get sp2 to download and install if i need ie7 and i can't get ie7 since i need sp2???????

(i hate windull), no way i will get vista on my com  :2gun:, i would need to upgrade with more rams and maybe other stuff.

Where did you get your new CD Key?  Never heard of Windull.  You may not have a valid key, and that might be what's preventing you from downloading any updates. 

But, like I said, never heard of Windull, so for all I know do you have a fully valid key.

Although, from the problems you just described, my first guess would be the key you used to install XP.

well windull IS windows, is just so anoying all the problem windows have.
the new cd key come from microsoft services by phone, i look at they're web site but when i think i got it I'm stuck with another problem.

its dsl, but not very fast.

anyway i was able to do it with the other com before but now i don't know what microsoft did but i can't get the sp2, no sp2 i can't surf the net, i only can use emule and one old game, sfc wont work on sp2 and i can't get the lates driver for my video card.

If you want, I'll upload you the setup files for both IE7 and SP2.  I've been downloading both for you just in case.  But you'll need either MSN IM, Yahoo IM, or AIM in order for it to work since those are the only IM services I have.

I hate websites that do that.  I've had nothing but problems with them in the past. 

Also, the SP2 installer is way over a hundred megs.  You're gonna need to get hold of me through MSN, AIM, or Yahoo IM.

Windows XP should not need IE 7 to download updates.. IE 7 is optional in XP.. Service Package 2 contains IE 6 and IE 6 updates...

I will see if I can find the XPSP 2 Standalone installer and post the link back here.. after you have XPSP 2, you can get IE 7, then get XPSP 3 from windows update.

Then you can get XPSP 3

XPSP 3 is still a release candidate and is not an official release.. when the release is final, you will have to uninstall the RC 3 then install the XPSP 3 official.

Well, pestalence beat me to it.  FOLLOW HIS DIRECTIONS.  Trust me, he's given you the best advice in the thread from what I've seen (since it's the same advice I'd have given so of course it's the best) so you'd do best to follow his directions.

well the problem is ie7 need sp2 to work, f9thcenturus send me a sp2 but its in english and my windows is in french, this com have sp2 install in it so it there a way to copy it to the other com?

i keep trying to get to microsoft web to get sp2 but i can't get it, its hard to find anything there and auto update or manual update are not working.

i can't chat with anyone on microsoft web page, phone support is useless since all i need is download sp2, because of problem with web page I'm limited on what i can do, if i download it with that com i need to transfer it to the other com, so aim work fine on the computer that need sp2.

then you can get IE 7.. and maybe XPSP 3 when it is released.. the RC versions are not available in French.

well the com is not fix but its not windows the problem, its the com itself and it maybe the driver for the mother board or the motherboard that is the problem, i re install windows xp and the old pentium 3 and its working fine execpt for the new cd key microsoft gave me that was good only for one use, windows did install the sp2 and all is goo on it.

so i put enought money on it I'm selling it, i will buy a new com later since a use com will required more money to up grade it and a new one will be a bether investment.
