The "Consumerization" of Information Technology
« on: April 08, 2008, 05:03:57 pm »
I just attended a meeting with our IT Group and Gartner sent a representative to speak, as well as a Director from Google, A Professor from Villanova, and the editor of a major technology magazine.  One of the recurring themes, in case you have never heard of it, is the "consumerization" of IT.

Did you know that recently, for the first time, more consumer chip sets were shipped than "IT" chipsets?  Additionally, in many cases, the consumer chips are now outperforming their data center cousins.

In a way this doesn't surprise me. I look at all of the people with Console Gaming, Cell phones, etc.
