SG-1 Ark of Truth
« on: March 13, 2008, 09:41:36 pm »
anyone else got this and watched it yet? I won't really get into it as I don't want to post spoilers, but I have to say, I wasn't all that impressed with it. I was hoping for a really great ending but the B story thread just killed it. The A story thread was good though and if they had somehow found a way to expand it with some good ship to ship, maybe some more Adria (there can never be enough Adria as she is rather hot), some more debate over whether to actually use the Ark, the ramifications of using the Ark, etc. it would have been great. a good battle scene wouldn't have hurt either.

What do you all think?

I'm going to be ordering a Sony 46 inch HDTV with sony playstation for the blu-ray player tomorrow. And I'm getting over $1200 off the tv as well. So there! LOL hey, I have reason to be happy. I've been using the same 20 inch tv for the last 18 years or more. it's time I finally moved up in the world.

I've not been so fascinated by television in a long time as I am now with HD TV.  Watching Enterprise in HD was...nice.  Watching 2001 in HD was nice as well.

Watching Queer as Folk in HD...let's just say the hubbie is happy.  :)

I'm not even jealous that you're getting the 46" - Just make sure it is 1080p and not 768.  Although one bad thing, the HD DVD receiver from Direct TV is only 1080i, not 1080 P.  Bah!

Oh, it is 1080p. I'm not spending that much on something that isn't going to be up to handle the best resolution that will be out in the next couple years.

We watched Ark of Truth last night.  It was actually an enjoyable 2-hour show.  Not quite big-screen great, but a good resolution of the Ori arc.

It was good I think, overall.. they did have a lot of loose ends to cover in that movie, which is probably why it seemed so rushed at the end.

It was okay but definitely too weak to have made it theatrically.  It illustrates to me the whole problem of the Ori story arc, how do you fight "gods"?  Earth can't possibly win on their own, they can't learn to build weapons to win so you have to introduce the deux ex machina in the form of the Ark.

I think that with the whole "Asgard giving their knowledge" to Earth that any future series has been pretty well messed up.  It would become a battle of super science.  Unless they do a reset of course.

I believe truth and principle do matter. If you have to sacrifice them to get the results you want, then the results aren't worth it.
