New Romulan ship?
« on: February 13, 2008, 10:51:06 pm »
Found this on my drive, worked on it a long time ago and walked away from it. I was trying to create a ship similar to the DDeridex in an obscure way, but much smaller and without the ventral wing section. Now that I look at it again, I think it might be something worth working on.

Let me know what you think...I haven't even named it. I can use suggestions for changes, names, and even if I should just shelve it for now.

Keep in mind, I havent smoothed this model out, so it will look a bit segmented.

What time period did you have intended for this ship?

The target is TNG era. Probably early to mid, hence the nacelles. I didnt want to do a remake of it with the talon engines I usually put on the NE (New Era) ships I design...I like it with the old nacelles.

Does it look too ubermodern for the TNG period?

He walked away from it?     :smackhead:

How I'd like to be able to walk away from a sweet Rommie.

Hehe, well, my problem is I love to work on the meshes, Ive gotten fairly good at it....and you know how much I love to do Romulan and Klingon designs.

Im not so good at Feds...just ask Starforce lol

The problem is textures....though I can do good ones (perhaps not as good as others here, im still learning TBH) the process is VERY long and I get bored with it. So then I move on to working on meshes again.

I would kill for someone like LC Amaral again that could make textures I am happy with. Then Id have a bunch of models to release...quite a few are just waiting on textures.

Only by a little bit.. I'd see this around Nemesis-era.. kind of a Romulan version of the Intrepid.  Probably with some pinched Fed Intrepid tech like those biogel packs, and maybe the possibility of adjustable pylons..  :)

Actually I was thinking that this ship could easily fit into the Ent-C era and, in my opinion, could easily have been the class of ship that engaged the Ent C at Nerendra 3.

What ship does it remind you of? It does have some simularities with my other designs, as far as the neck spar and clamshell wing.

someone else released a D class bash where they deleted the bottom of it.

And why don't you texture this stuff? That C9 looked amazing..so your rom textures can't be that much different for a valdore or tng era so I don't see your problem.

I can do textures, mainly the problem is that Im too obsessive with them. It took me a long time to do the Klingon textures, and Im not happy with them.

I just have to lighten up, the only way Im going to learn is to just start cranking out textures.

Im still cleaning up the mesh and I started looking for someone to do the textures. Im trying to bait LC Amaral into doing this one. Otherwise Ill have to texture her myself.

Once again an excellent design by His Holy Raveness! I hope someone gives her a beautiful gown soon! She looks like what I wish Paramount had used for the Valdore in Nemesis.

Do you have any updates on your recent fed projects:
 Ares http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163375515.0.html
 Falcon http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163370399.0/all.html
 Jupiter http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163375791.0.html

As always Raven - thanks for sharing. I know you've had some health issues. I've had a few over the past year myself so i know how it can sap your energy - especially if it involves pain (and medications to manage said evil).

Seeing your creativity despite life's little road blocks makes them all the more impressive. Rock on!

I appreciate the comments. Thanks.

For the Ares, I made good progress on the mesh, but the textures are on hold for the Falcon finish first. The Jupiter is on the back burner for now, but ill have that one done after the Ares.

Right now I wanted to knock out a few Roms, a Klingon, the Falcon, and then move on the Ares and the Jupiter.

Thanks for the updates Raven - they'll definitely all be worth the wait.

You are much to hard on yourself when it comes to textures BTW, I think everyone at Dyna would agree your texture work is in the top 10% of talent shared here.
