U.S.S. Mars Released!!!
« on: February 13, 2008, 01:10:59 pm »
You can get the ship at the following link:

http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/file/USS_Mars;86588

Also, a registry pack for the ship is also available, and can be found here:

http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/file/Mars_Class_Alternate_Registries;86593

The ship is compatible with all versions of SFC, thanks to atheorhaven and his SFC1/2/OP hardpointing of the ship.

I'm still trying to figure out why my bashes can never use damage textures, and when I figure out the problem and fix it, I'll post damage textures of the ship.

EDIT:

All links working properly now.

One slight update.  I realized I didn't include a readme file with the registry pack, so I'm reuploading the pack again, readme included.

Nice job. I still think you should have added a smple light blue boarder around those pylons where they enter the saucer similar to what I think skinman did with his tmp:

It's a minor detail but it defenetly would make a difference.

Like I said though, that required work to be done that I couldn't do, and didn't have anyone to do for me.  So it's a moot point.

Yup,

Also did not see the variant with the long phasers, veritcal ones, in the package. You saving those for a secret Connie kitbach you have stashed away?

Hadn't thought of it, but who knows, I might.  Maybe they'd be useful on the Terran Anubis, but with 5 on the doral saucer with 4 of them covering the forward part of the ship and a 5th firing aft.  What do you think?

I just downloaded the copy I uploaded, to make sure that if the problem is with the ship, I would have the best chances of getting the same results.

For all versions of the ship, I couldn't get the same errors you were getting on your end.  However, the modviewer was reacting a tad on the slow side, but that might have to be due to the polys and the large number of materials the ship has.  I've never done a kitbash this large, so I have no idea what effect that would ultimately have on modviewer on certain systems.

Have you tried the ships out in game yet?  I know you don't have SFC3, but does the SFC2/OP version show the same errors in game?

It may be a graphics driver problem.  Not sure.  The only thing I can think of that the SFC2 and SFC3 versions have in common is the use of lightmaps.  But from the image you posted, I'm wondering why the problem on your end is only affecting the ventral saucer, and not other parts of the ship using lightmaps.
