star trek novels
« on: February 11, 2008, 05:36:54 pm »
I tried to google this and got lost lol.  I'm looking for some novels that deal mostly with the other races.  Are there any novels that deal with the perspective of some of the minor races from sfb?  lyrans, gorn, etc.  i'm really interested in lyran and romulan.  I'm reading the man/kzin wars again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I found a TOS novel over 20 years ago called "Web of the Romulans" dealing with some sort of disease on Romulus and Remus that leads to Kirk, Spock, McCoy, etal. rescuing the empire. I don't remember any other details, except that the Enterprise saved the day(so we could continue to have Rommies as cunning enemies in TNG ;) ).

If you want some Romulan perspective read the books by Diane Duane.  Not cannon but I like them.

Won't be anything about the Lyrans as they're a SFB race, have nothing to do with ST .
I think at one point ADB (TDG or whoever) was planning on doing a few novels, but don't think anything ever came of the plan.

Never liked the ST novels, so haven't rad any number of tem, but iirc- there's one or two that have a race similar too 9though not named as) Kzin, and there's
likely dozens now (incuding I believe) a series done by Shatner about how cool Kirk is concerning the Romulans.

I didn't realize Shatner had done books on the Romulans.  Are they any good?

I haven't read them, just read the back cover. Think there's one called Captain's Blood, believe it's a trilogy though.

Shatner

These three words placed together in any sentence automatically cause that sentence to become nonsense.

Seriously though, Shatner doesn't technically write the books.  The Reeve-Garfields do that for him while he frantically creates crayon sketches of how awesome Captain Kirk looks.
