for the Hydrans and Kzin, there's pretty much me and one other guy (I forget who), plus you.  IF this were a serious server having an RW channel wouldn't help things any, but since it's just for fun we're all just practing our PvP and watching the SOS v. GDA battle when both sides ever are on at the same time.  Plus, to 'help' matters, in 3 weeks I've seen 2 Kzin players, both only once and for like 20 minutes each.

SO, it's all for fun, but I'd worry about it for the serious servers (at which time anyone who's going to start one can give me the number too )
