Has my descriptions of Cerberus been adequately sufficient to give you all a good picture?

WAY too much detail, tone it down a bit!

More detail than normal, but not to wordy.

Cerberus LoD
« on: May 05, 2008, 06:17:01 pm »

I'm only asking this as I have been completely unable to fabricate the vessel onto paper, let alone onto anything 3D. Trust me, I am working on it; however, short of mutilating someone else's two .jpg's for a screwy top down, I haven't had any success.

There's going to be a scene in which the knowledge of where things are on the outside will be key to understanding what is going on. When Guv writes about Endy, saying such-n-such component just exploded or there's a fire in the thingamajig, you all know where it is (or at least I do); part because you('d better) know what an Excelsior looks like, and the majority of the rest due to high level of detail (ex: Whisker's, Mk. 4's).

Same goes for Kadh's Screaming D. Guv's Pang and the "Vulture". Andy's (so sorry but I forgot the name) Romulan. Etc., etc. (etc. means I've included yours, too, just didn't want to write EVERY one of them, no disrespect intended)

Since she's a scratch built kit-bash, I don't think anyone's seen anything like her. But have you seen Cerberus? Have you seen her basking in the reddish glow of a Mars like planet? Did you see her land on the surface of a planet?

Its just been something that's bothered me since the beginning. How can I be qualified to tell you how something looks if even I can't reproduce it?

And, just to satisfy your curiosity, I used to excel in doodling starships. With enough detail that you could very easily recognize the hull class.

Czar "enough about me," Mohab, who notes, its about the ship, not the rest of the story/series. I know where I'm lacking there.

Actually, my problem in visualizing the Cerberous at the moment stems from the length of time since your last update and my last reading thereof.

I don't remember being particularly confused or bleary at any time.

However, if you'll email me a rough scratch of your Cerberus, I might be able to cobble you up something that will get you closer to what you want. I did such for a friend of mine when he wanted an NX contemporary vessel for his own stories. Just include a list of whatever details you'd like on the design, and I can give 'er a go and email it back to ya. It'd be a nice challenge.

I echo the Guv's comment, but I seem to recall that you described her as an Okinawa-class frigate with a third nacelle, a la the Federation class dreadnought.

I'd have to re-read to remember. And I am still going to steal your "snap a picture" idea for my own ships and stories.

"Dialogue from a play, Hamlet to Horatio: 'There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy.' Dialogue from a play written long before men took to the sky. There are more things in heaven and earth, and in the sky, than perhaps can be dreamt of. And somewhere in between heaven, the sky, the earth, lies the Twilight Zone."
