I'm new here, some SFC Questions
« on: May 11, 2009, 11:10:54 pm »
Hi I have been a lifelong Trek fan, I love ST in any form, canon or not. SFC was the very first PC game I ever bought and I have owned all of the SFC series as well as other Trek games (BOTF, Armada I&II, etc...).

I quit playing SFC shortly after SFC was released because I felt that they really dumbed down the game and also it seemed the Dynaverse had issues. I spent several years playing Darkspace (a great ship to ship combat MMOG) because it was the closest thing to what I had always wanted SFC to be.

The new movie kind of reactivated my Trek obsession and Darkspace is basically dead these days so I was just about to reinstall SFC II when I thought I might do a search and see if people still play it at all and I ended up here.

So my question is, and please forgive me because I have not had time to thoroughly search the forums, do people still actually play SFC II or III? Which is more popular. I like II much better but would play III if it had a bigger player base. Tomorrow I guess I will make time to read some info here on getting Dynaverse running. I am dying to play this game again but the fun wears out within minutes against AI with no other people to play with.

OP has the biggest base here.  III still has a good sized following, but its fractured between a number of different mods.  OP is pretty standardized, everyone playing OP is usually on the same package.
