Networking help needed.
« on: January 04, 2008, 12:10:53 am »
I have a LinkSys router for my computer but when I go to connect it, the computer shows it as connected but keeps showing the internet as working off-line. Also I have tried hooking my Wii up to the internet but from the looks of things my internet connection might be listed as PPPoE (whatever that means) and the Wii can't connect to that type. Any help would be very helpful. Just let me know what specs you need.

Best bet, would be to Give me or Capt. Mike a call Storvick. Setting up a network is kind of a lengthy process. IT would be easier to just do It over the phone then type out pages of info here. Just suggesting a faster way to help you out.

PPOE is a standard used by DSL modems for the most part. Do you need a user name and password to login, or is it just a direct connect?

Did you set up the username and password for the PPOE login? (Disregard if you dont need that for your DSL provider)

If you have a cable modem, you'll choose either a dynamic or static connection.

Also, do this: Load up your Internet Explorer, click on "tools" then "internet options" then "connections".

In the box, make sure that "Never dial a connection is selected"

That should fix your problem.
