New OP Enhancement Package under development

OK.. checking over past posts and errors that people have had.  I have done some fixes already

Error #1

People unable to connect to Dynaverse servers.

this was caused by a type o on my part.

on the file WONServerSetup.gf

I had the server addresses like this :

[WONDirectoryServer/Addresses]
//0="sfc2.west.won.net:15101"
//1="sfc2.central.won.net:15101"
//2="sfc2.east.won.net:15101"
0=c"lient.sfc.dynaverse.net:15101"
1="client.dynaverse.net:15101"
2="sfc2.directory.stasis.ca:15101"

This would cause the connect to time out with the Directory server.

The fix is :

[WONDirectoryServer/Addresses]
//0="sfc2.west.won.net:15101"
//1="sfc2.central.won.net:15101"
//2="sfc2.east.won.net:15101"
0=client.sfc.dynaverse.net:15101
1=client.dynaverse.net:15101
2=sfc2.directory.stasis.ca:15101

on the last 3 lines, just remove the " marks..

Error #2

Single Player Conquest and Storyline batch files installed incorrect campaign files

Just finished fixing this just now for the new package

Update :

Updated the Scripts install with the ED Full package from March 07

Need to know if there were and quick fix files to ED's missions after March 2007.. D.net search isn't showing me anything so far, but I could be overlooking something.


If anyone knows if Tracy G or El Karnak has updated their mission scripts since 2006 or if Firesoul has released another OP + newer than the 2005 release of OP + 4.0  and OP + Hardcore, please let me know as soon as possible.


I'm also going to  include 2 more OP install instruction sets to include Windows Vista ..

One set to install with user accounts active (not stable for games made for Win 98, Win ME, Win 2K, or Win XP SP 1 and must be installed under Admin Permissions and have the game folder and all EXE files in compatibility mode for XPSP 2 and set for Admin mode (Outside programs like EXINI will not work due to the shared shadow volume of Vista ghosting the admin account))

the second is a lot easier to get stable games, Just switch off user accounts, restart, install game, set game EXE in Game Folder to Win XPSP2 Compatibility, and enjoy..


Also in process is the making of CD's to be ordered for the Enhancement Package.. Of cource the cost is only to cover materials (CD and case... oh, and a sharpie) and of course shiping in that brown bubble filled envelope...

This is of course goint to be sent out mainly to those who :

A : have a poor connection to the net (AKA Dial-up)

B : Prefer to have this on a CD and don't want to burn it themselves.

Anyhow, time to build the new package...

The easiest way for Vista Users to play games (older games for XPSP1, Win 2k, 98se, ME) is to disable the user accounts and after install of game, set the game for XPSP 2 compatibility..

As for SFC 1, I have a lot of work to do to get that game working on Vista

Error #2

Is there a current fix for this?  Before I reinstalled OP I could switch between Storyline and Campaign mode with no problems.  Now I get some garbled nonsense when I try the Storyline switch along with being told that I'm already in Storyline mode.  I'd love to be able to play through the campaigns using this AWESOME SFB mod.

Oh, and I'm stoked to hear about a new Enhancement Package.  Evil Dave's Warp mission will be a sweet addition to an already excellent program.  Is there any way the Syndicate could show their appreciation?

OK.. I found the problem in the OP Enhancement Package.. the problem was not with my files.. It is in the OP + v4.0 installer when you keep the Update Dyna Servers box checked. I am correcting this to where the correct Server Update files will be installed at the end of the OPE set up.

I thought I had the wrong file in the game, but the error is on Firesoul's part.. Purley by accident

In the WonServerSetup.gf file, the error is :

[WONDirectoryServer/Addresses]

The OP + v4.0 and the OP + HC has this problem if you use the settings to update the Dynaverse Directory fix.

Also the OP Enhancement will have the updated scripts installer in it.. the issue with the Storyline and Conquest game modes will be fixed.. Just make sure that you are in the proper game mode to continue a saved game..  You can not load a Conquest saved game if you are in storyline game mode.. also make sure you are using the same MOD you were using for your saved game.. a saved game using OP + will not work if you are in Taldren Original game mode.


OP Enhancement v5.0 will have this issue fixed and it should be available tonight.

Ok, I've got 5.0 up and running on a fresh install.  However, I can't seem to access the EAW campaigns for the 8 Empires.  In Storyline mode I'm presented with the Pirate story campaigns and the General campaigns for the Empires.  Is there something I'm missing or doing incorrectly?  Or am I misremembering how and where the EAW storyline campaigns came from?  Is there a separate download for them?  I would have sworn they were included in the Enhancement package.

My bad.. I put the wrong scripts installer into the OP E 5..

Good catch.

I'll have the correct Scripts installer uploaded as soon as possible.

Just use the scripts_uninstall.exe found in your OP directory, then install the one I upload..

I'll post link here.. then I'll update my post and rebuild the OP package.

Updated Scripts Installer :

Uninstall Old Scripts Installer using scripts_uninstall.exe located in your SFC OP game directory before installing this new script package.

Pestalence, the new package has been excellent.  I did have one question.  I wasn't sure if it was a deliberate omission but the EEK campaigns don't appear on the conquest side of the game.  If you meant to leave them out it's a shame as they were the toughest campaigns in Conquest.

I think I mislabeled the MCT files before I packed them.. the El Karnak MCT files ore in there and they do load, but the description in game does not say EEK.. so I'll fix that.. as well as some newer NW mission scripts that I cound on Stray's Tavern.. I guess I missed some.. v5.2 will be coming out soon.
