Damage Textures for SFC3 question
« on: December 24, 2007, 08:35:53 am »
Hey everyone,

I've been downloading a good mix of sfc3 custom models, I've been noticed that some come with damage textures (files ending with a D) and some don't. The ones that have no damage texture file will of course not show battle damage. I've been trying to manually add damage textures to those models but haven't had any luck. I'd copied the standard damage texture bmp file into the model directory and add the D, so for example:

Galaxy1.BMP
Galaxy1_i.BMP

I would copy my standard damage texture into that dir as Galaxy1D.bmp and Galaxy1_iD.bmp. Even though I do this when put it to the test no battle damage occours, I can get the pink smoke but no scaring.

I can see battle scaring on any model I've downloaded that comes with the D files, but when I add the D files myself, it's no worky.
Does the MOD file itself have to be modified to point to the damage files of each model? From what I've read I don't think so but I really stumped as to why this isn't working. I've tried now on about 7 different models with no success. I've even made sure the texture files are the same sizes and colour depth and the texture file. I've read over the tutorials on damage texturing, I've tried to walk through those steps but again no worky.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to delete the *.x files. Use the Racacher in the SFC3 Model tools which released by Taldren to make new *.x cache.

Wow, thank you very much. That was exactly the problem! I deleted the .x files, re-cached and it worked like a charm. Thank you again :)
