For Christmas my wonderful wife upgraded our current verizon DSL to Verizon FIOS Fiber Optic TV,phone and internet.
Before, I had to get a second line, and pay for a second DSL modem to satisfy the needs of 4 computers w/o dragging my connection speed down while gaming.
I was lucky to get a 740-770 kbs speed on a dedicated DSL line to my Smoking gaming Desktop I bought last year, less to the 3 computers on the Linksys broadband router.
Now, on a single Modem/router, (it's one machine with FIOS) with all four computers downloading (yes, I tested this) the lowest connection speed I got on any computer (my daughter's, a 7 year old machine) was just over 7800kbs.

My machine was getting over 8900kbs, but I have a 10/100/1000 Ethernet card, which helps a little.
It's a 20/5 connection, a slight upgrade from the "standard" 10/2 package.
And a quick disabling of the router firewall had me logged onto the D2 without a hich.

And to top it off, not only do I save 24 bucks a month on not needing the second DSL line, it's about 15 more less than I was paying for comparable cable, phone and one internet connection.

The House of Krueg is very happy tonight.

And yes, just like the commercials say, it defiantly improved the picture on the TVs I have (no HDs

)
If anyone gets one of those flyer's in your mail saying FIOS is now available in your area, I'd seriously look into it.
Gawds....I sound like a fracking salesman, don't I?....
