I was at my cell phone store today buying a 2gb memory card for my phone. I just happened to look at the memory card itself through the plastic as she was ringing it up I noticed that the card said 1gb while the outside package said 2gb. When I brought it to her attention she was surprised to say the least and went to get a memory card that was actually 2gb. Out of all the 2gb packages they had in the store only one actually had a 2gb memory card in the package, the rest had only 1gb memory cards in them. The package itself was not altered in any way so this happened at the factory and not by some dishonest worker at the store.
First she told me that I had a good eye...
Then she proceeded to tell me that if I had discovered this when I got home that all I had to do was bring it back and they would give me the correct memory card. But would they? If the package was never opened I think they would. But most people wouldn't even notice until after they opened the package and I can't see any company making an exchange like that after the package is opened for fear of getting ripped off, and rightly so.
So when you are out buying stuff make sure the actual product matches the outside packaging. Don't let what almost happened to me happen to you. As always, buyer beware.
