The secondary Hull needs to be a bit bigger  A bit longer perhaps, heck I don't even see a shuttlebay on this ship.
Second that. Slide the nacelle pylons back until the fronts just touch the neck and it'd be a start.

Need to see a profile view to get a better idea of the shape.

This are the two other concepts they showed, posted by Suricata.

Combat vessel - sort of Intrepid mark 2 it seems to me, looks heavily armoured also, ablative for sure.

Supposed engineering or science vessel - looks a bit like steamrunner meets ds9 with defiant winglets incooperated into the hull.

That "Intrepid" does indeed scream combat. All it needs is a captain who can deliver the line "We don't need to go to Red Alert, they'll be dead before our shields raise."

IN the TOS episode "The Doomsday Machine" Spock's scans reveal that the hull is comprised of the fictional element "Neutronium", the hardest material known to Federation science. This means that it couldn't "grow" but was possibly fashioned out of a large asteroid.

It was also an automated robot weapon with two weapons, an aniti-Proton beam weapon and the mystery field emination that renders Anti-Matter inert. That's why Photons or Anti-Matter Bombs.

The fact that it also carried the means to stop any ship calling for help via Sub Space Radio also points to the Doomsday Machine being a manufactured weapon and not a lifeform.

The Klingons have many ways to fry a cat. I prefer to use an L7 Fast Battlecruiser!!

The intrepid mark 2 is also clearly an mvam because the saucer has impulse and so does the pylons, one could add tiny ancelles on the saucer on the part that sticks out.

The second variant just looks cool, for no particular reason...

A federation science vessel that resembles an IDIC insignia.  Or am I just seeing things?

I was thinking along the lines of how the Borg ships can repair themselves. As the weapon destroys ships and collects material it makes itself larger by some form of advanced replication process. This lets you build a machine 50 meters long, release it into an asteroid belt and have it increase it's own size and power. Give it a few thousand years of rogue travel through the galaxy and you wind up with the massive system killer seen in TOS.

I really like that idea. It would really create an interesting backstory to the machine. I never saw that episode but I enjoy the doomsday machine legend with the trekkies all the same and dare say I would read a story about the creation and growth of the doomsday machine to the point where we see it. would probably be best as a short story or a simple book. just to really hype people up about the ancient piece of technology.

It would have to refine a lot of Neutronium to "grow".

Spock traced its path as coming from another galaxy and so it had traversed inter galactic space. Unless the Borg orginated outside the Milky Way Galaxy, the weapon was intended to be the final say in some other war.

Propulsion was via "Total Conversion Drive" which may have allowed Warp Speed travel.

Defences were the hull descibed by Spock as being "Immesurably Thick and comprising of pure Neutronium", a Sub Space jamming field and an Anti-Matter Potency Neutaliser. Actually in the SFC senarios involving the Doomsday Machine, Photons and Warp Power \ Drive should be off line. Now that would make the battle more intersesting!! ::)

Offensive weapons were the Anti-Photon Beam (lacking in the SFC Doomsday Machine so I added 8 x Ph4) and a powerful tractor beam.

Spock also pointed out that the Doomsday Machine was slightly faster than the Enterprise when at Impulse. "It is gaining on us!!"

Commadore Decker babbled on that the machine was "MIles Long with a mall that could swallow a whole fleet of starships!!". The SFC version does not do justice to how big the thing was shown next to the Enterprise when viewed from the view sceen in auxilary control onboard the USS Constellation.

Now if someone could manage the ghostly blue shimmer that was in the origninal TOS episode, there'd be something!! ;D

If you've not seen the episode, ten you've missed out on one of the best episodes in the TOS series. You even see Kirk about to loose spicter muscle integrety in the final moments of the Constellation's existance!! ;D

It's a shame that they couldn't have the Doomsday Machine music in the SFC  senarios involving it. Next to the original Star Trek theme, it is the next most familiar music in the TOS sries.

The Klingons have many ways to fry a cat. I prefer to use an L7 Fast Battlecruiser!!
