In search of Atrahasis' TMP Drydock.
« on: November 22, 2007, 12:37:01 pm »
Does anybody have Atrahasis' TMP Drydock?  If so would you provide a download link or email the file?  I did find a good alternative drydock by Captain Fingers at Battle Clinic.

Here is a link to Captain Finger's Drydock at Battle Clinic on page 90 (it is the 8th entry on the webpage):

Here is a direct link to it:

Hi all,

Atrahasis uploaded his TMP Drydock SFC model today.

Here is the link to download it:
http://www.4shared.com/file/30184634/83f661cd/dock.html

If he gives me permission I will upload it to the Battle Clinic for future reference.

Hey all,

Well, my machine may be too old.  Whenever I try to use Atrahasis' Drydock in SFC1, SFC1 aborts/terminates while trying to load the skirmish mission.  Anyone else try using this Drydock model in SFC1 successfully?  At this point I don't know if the model is for SFC2 only and needs to be converted for SFC1 or it's just my machine is too old.

I'll check it sometime this weekend.. if it just needs to be converted to SFC 1, I'll do that and send you the corrected .MOD file as a private conversion.  :)

I wouldn't release it unless Atra gives the okay to do so... and then I'd simply send him the converted files most likely..

Yeah the ship is lit, that's why you're crashing. If you already have the file I can send ya a model with the lights removed so it'll work for ya.

atheorhaven and ModelsPlease,

Thank you.  atheorhaven/Alec I have responded to your PM and email.  Yesterday, I did ask Atrahasis for permission to upload his TMP Drydock model to the Battle Clinic website and I asked for his permission for other artists to convert his Drydock model to SFC1.  Unfortunately, Atrahasis objected to his work being uploaded to Battle Clinic as he deems it a commercial site.  However, Atrahasis said I could make a SFC1 version of his Drydock and upload it to my website as long as it is not a commercal site and it is not supported by a commercial site.  I do not have the skills or knowledge to created a SFC1 version of Atra's Drydock nor do I have a website.  However, atheorhaven/Alec does have the skills and knowledge and he has a website.  So Alec is your website non-commercial and  not supported by a commercial website?  If so then please create a SFC1 version of Atra's Drydock and uploaded to your website so that I and others may enjoy Atra's model.

Here is a link to Atra's message board on the subject:

I have a model, in my collection, of the correct SFB Federation drydock, for SFC 1, the one with the living module and command structure on top.

Is this the Atrahasis one??

It sure looks like one of his. I'll have to check the Redame.txt to see if it is, as I so many models on file for SFC 1 that I find it difficult to keep track of what is whose.

Generally, like the artists and artwork, I tend to use the style and texture artwork as a clue.

However, it does look like an "Atra model"!!

The Klingons have many ways to fry a cat. I prefer to use an L7 Fast Battlecruiser!!

NavigatorNCC2120 you can create your own FREE site on Freeweb.com IIRC won't cost ya a thing. It's where OutaLance had it's first site  ;). Then you can upload your SFC1 ships to your own site.

Thanks guys for all the helpful info.  What is the status of Atra's Drydock?  Is it ready for SFC1?  If so are you going to email it to me (to blueman_0101@yahoo.com) or uploaded it to your website so I can download it from there?

Hi Panzergranate,

Atrahasis made a model of the Drydock seen in the first Star Trek Film, "Star Trek:  The Motion Picture" (hence TMP for The Motion Picture)  released on December 7, 1979, directed by Robert Wise.  A Director's Edition was released on November 9, 2001.  In honor of the Director's Edition of this film Atrahasis made the model of the Drydock for SFC2 and released it in either in 2001 or 2002.  This film (all 3 versions:  the 1979 theatrical version, the 1983 extended version, and the 2001 Director's Edition) has always been my favorite Star Trek film and probably always will.  I loved it back then in 1979 and still love it.  I wish they made more Star Trek films like this one using the same sets, wardrobe, props, special effects, music, ideas (spray on (beamed on) clothing, computer bio monitoring belt buckle, sonic showers, onboard ship computer enunciator, thruster suits with audio computer manual , computerized universal translator).

Here are 2 pictures of the Drydock from the film that Atra's model is based on:

It is ready for SFC 1, but I should probably playtest it first.  ;)

Then I'll email you the changed .MOD files for the drop-in replacement, and repackage the whole thing as a SFC 1 version for putting on my site I guess..

Alec,

I will post screen shots of TMP Drydock in SFC1.  I want to wait until you, ModelsPlease, and Fallen_Warrior finish updating ModelsPlease's TMP Travel Pod first.  I want the screen shots to have that full "Star Trek:  The Motion Picture" feel.
