Slight problem with SFC3 MP
« on: March 11, 2003, 11:31:23 am »
Hello everyone;

I've got a slight problem with SFC3's Dynaverse multiplayer mode.. I've been browsing through the forums lately looking for a workaround for this problem (server can't resolve the IP adress of mine), but I haven't succeeded.

I know there are problems with routers (myself connects via a Netgear one), but problem is I haven't access to it's configuration functions.. is there a possible workaround for this, bypassing or anything? Suggestions? help?

Let it run for awhile.  After about 10 minutes it will ask you to imput your IP address (if you don't know your IP, go to Start -> Run, choose CMD, and type ipconfig /all.  Thats "ipconfig /all").  Type in your IP and it'll work.  I've had to do this on two computers (i think it occurs when you have a LAN and all computers share an IP but have different network IP's).

I am also having difficulty getting past the directplay test host.

the IPAddress= line in the INI file does not work for me for some reason.  If you don't know this trick, what you do is in the SFC INI file there is a section called "Meta".  Enter the following

IPAddress=(your IP address)

In the past, this worked for me fine...but ever since I upgraded to DX9 and installed the Beta patch, I can't get back into the D3 -- and I did not install DX 9 over the Beta.  I had DX9, uninstalled SFc3, installed SFC3, then installed the Beta Patch.  By the way..unpatched SFC3 will not run with DX9 -- the Beta patch has the DX9 fix.

I have tried every trick I know, even turning off my firewall completely, and the game still locks up at the Directplay Test Host portion of logging into the D3.  Totally locks up and freezes.

My system specs:

Intel Pentium IV 2.26 GHZ
512 MB Ram (233 Mhz)
533 MHZ Front Side Bus
80 GB Hard drive
CD R/W
CD DVD
3.5 Floppy
GEForce 4 MX440 64 MB Graphics Card (XTasy/VisionTek)
DSL Connection
Windows XP Operating System
DirectX 9.0
Soundblaster Live 5.1 Gamer

Any help would be appreciated.  I would really like to be able to play in the D3.

Regards,

Tempest
