SFC3 Rexpansion 2007
« on: August 06, 2007, 12:11:32 am »
I noticed that You-Chen has posted an updated version of his rebalance mod (http://yochenhsieh.myweb.hinet.net/sfc3rex.html). I say I'm looking very forward to it as his previous versions have been excellent.  I've recently started playing the game again only because of his mods.  Check it out and the screenshots at his site.  A big thank you to You-Chen for the mod. -d42

Thank you very much for your supports.:)

However, there might be some people disappointed about it because the most notable changes are merely a few new ships and campaign missions. Though there're many miscellanous minor difference to previous version, I would suggest people read the announcement carefully before you spend your valuable time on downloading it.

Please read the full announcement here:

Thank you for your comments and praise.:)

The original purpose of making this mod was to improve the single player experience, and I've tested the campaign carefully. Hope you will enjoy the nice story of SFC3. Though not much new ships were added, these ships are both looking good and can be run on low-end old-spec PCs. For non-canon ships, I try to select the ships which fit into the style of Taldren's designs, hope you like those ships as well.

Chen, I really like the amount of detail you have put into this mod professional comes to mind the ships look amazing in space the no shield rings, now the mine rings that vanish, i cant get into ship spec as I'm a noob to sfc3 but those thing 2 things mentioned add tactics to the game that should have been there from the start imho. The ship choices now gives the feeling of a more complete fleet like sfc2/op for the races without being overloaded I can only think of maybe 3 ship models that I personally could see adding after this update, but no need at all really. I did have a question is there a way to make the AI harder? and what about limiting the amount of shuttles on ships ? maybe some more experienced sfc3 players than me could take a look at the mod an give some suggestions/feedback for things. The way this mod is looking I wouldn't mind trying some multiplayer at GSA with it.

What ships do you want to add? If many people request them, I might add them in future updates. The amont of shuttles on ships can be changed, but I don't know how to make AI harder... yet.

I would like to play my mod with other people online as well. Though it's difficult for me to find a time playing with foreign players, I live in Taiwan, of which the timezone is GMT+8hrs.  :P

8) Hello Mr.Yochen-Hsieh , i have just today downloaded your mod for the second time and this time it is growing on me. The first time that i downloaded it i did not like it but since then i have found out that at the same time i had an active virus on my computer so .....  This time around i love your mod especially the planets. They are so well done that sometimes i wonder if i may see grazing animals but offcource that is impossible from outer space. Nevertheless i have to say sorry for my comments last time and well done.  By the way ,do you know why a critic is a critic ? Because he is to dumb to learn a normal trade.

Thanks for your comments.  :)

In case that people get misunderstand it, both file on battleclinic and sfc3files are the same version, and are both safe to download, virus-free. Please don't worry if your system will be infected or attacked.

 8) I did not mean to say that your mod gave me the virus. It was allready active when i downloaded your mod but at that moment i did not know that i had a virus. About two weeks later it turned up in one of the scans of my AVG 75 virusscans.

If anyone is interested in helping make SFC3:Rexpansion compatible with the sfc3 server of dynaverse.net, please read here:
http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163377001.0.html

The updated self-extractors for switching between stock and mod files, and the sfc3 directory server update:
http://yochenhsieh.myweb.hinet.net/SFC3rex2007.1test.zip
(Please extract the zip file to your sfc3 folder after the mod is installed. Run sfc3stock534b.exe before you want to test online campaign.)

Thanks,

You-Cheng Hsieh

Do you mean LC Admiral's Raptor remake from Armada2?
http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/file/LC_Nemesis_raptor;25954

Love that ship, too. But it looks similiar to the Griffin, so I have to choose one between them. Same reason why I add Bloodwing(kdx) but exclude Kleev(kcx).

Yeah you have a point, its hard to choose I have looked thru many times at the BC models to make a suggestion the rest of the taldren x ships was my hands in the air conclusion lol.

Well, I don't want to add too many ships, nor do I have the time to do that. Sometimes I just leave them for next major release. (I know, that's just another excuse for my lazyness.:P)

There're also many people requesting Dominion and Cardassians. I would like to add them as well, but I don't want to change the playable 4 races, and I cannot make a working multi-race map yet. So the plan is still in a WIP stage. The ships are ready, specs are set, but the map I made just crash the game. :(

On the other hand, I can play DS9:DW on my laptop and it's working fine. When you have that game working, it's the best ST game featuring the Dominion War. So somehow I lack the motive to make a mod with Dominion and Cardassians...
