Server problem
« on: September 11, 2007, 02:24:30 pm »
Hi everyone, I know that this is not the correct forum for this post but I thought someone may have the answer here as I am waiting for access to the server admin forum.

Been trying to set up a new OP server, it is just completely stock for now. The problem that I am having right now is that everything is free! I know this sounds like a good thing, but since supplies are also not costing anything, you cannot purchase any resupplies.

I'm using a flat file db for now and have looked through the economy.gf file and everything looks normal in there (at least to me). I even increased the cost multipliers per difficulty setting, which did not work.

Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, and again I apologize for posting in the wrong place, but I do not yet have access to the server admin forum.

Update:

I found the problem..after 3 days of poking around, I finally figured out that I had the default difficulty set to 3 instead of 2 as it should have been..someone please beat me for that lol.

Anyway, I am running The Boneyard fun server, which is running completely stock for now. I hope to move it to an SQL database and bigger shiplist in the future, so feel free to drop in and fly a few. I hope to see it pick up a lil more between major campaigns.

cheers

Hey MuadDib long time no see  ;D I've been thinking about flying some on Thor. Bartok has also been asking me to come fly. If I manage to get some free time between tinkering with my server, work, the girlfriend, and the guys from work bugging me to play Counterstrike with them, then I'll likely install a second copy of OP and fly a lil on Thor. I really should show some support for my Klingon brothers out there  ;)

cheers and good to see you again

MuadDib: Yeah...

Raztax: [pointing to the settings] ...the numbers all go to three. Look, right across the board: three, three, three, three...

MuadDib: Oh, I see. And most servers go up to two?

Raztax: Exactly.

MuadDib: Does that mean it's harder? Is that any harder?

Raztax: Well, it's one harder, isn't it? It's not two. You see, most... most blokes, you know, will be playing at two. You're on two here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up... you're on two on your server. Where can you go from there? Where?

MuadDib: I don't know...

Raztax: ...nowhere! Exactly! What we do is if we need that extra... push over the cliff, you know what we do?

MuadDib: Put it up to three.

Raztax: ...Three. Exactly. One harder.

MuadDib: Why don't you just make two harder, and make two be the top... number, and make that a little harder?

Raztax: [pause, blank look and snapping chewing gum] This goes to three.
