Without looking at the Readme file I believe this was late 2001 early 2002. Yes I remember seeing this back then.

How's about not...
Seriously, some bashes make no sense...and this unfortunately makes none...
how about one of you guys actually design a ship to fit the niche...its not like people here aren't qualified or something... :)

I have nothing against kitbashes, but I do have something against bashes that make little to no sense...just my 2 cents on the issue.

.. but then there is the question of whether or not we fill a request from someone just because we do or don't like a design.  I've done several ships as requests that people flamed, and did so because there was a request for it.  The Alseides comes to mind as one.  Looks like a fanboy design, but it was fun to do and helped me develop some colored illumination skills that I used on later ships as well.

Bernard is asking for a legitimate kitbash, and whether we like it or not, shouldn't be the answer.

What I'd suggest would be that we design a replacement that makes sense, but also consider re-doing the kitbash with more up-to-date components.  That way there'll be two projects that develop from a single request, and that just adds to the available choices for people.  :)

That's the Alseides.. you can find it in the Outalance page under my name.

But I wasn't intending to steal the thread.. PM me on it.

Thanks Atheorhaven
Nice suggestion, and one that works, need to come up with a neat idea for a secondary hull that I can add the excelsior saucer to and its engines to make a battle ship.   I'd also like to use this thread to feature Older Models that might have been lost to the sands of time so Check you hard drives and your cds to see what jems we might have hidden and let's go down memory lane  :D

Enjoy all

Well, if one could get the permission, WZ's arizona hull and nacelles could be good for this. I'd losse the megaphasers though, those look dumber than dumb. Pointless as this bash may be in technical terms, I'll throw in a vote for having it modernised. I just don't agree with atolm that we need to be so serious about ship design lol, esp since he's got some that are way "out there" himself.

I agree about the Mega Phasers they detract from the primary hull alot.

.. I have an idea on it.. but I'll need to play around a bit with some of p81's parts for a mockup.  :)

My thought would be, "Why would you need a ship this large?  What would it be used for?"  My thought is one of three possibilities..

a) Carrier
b) Portable Medical Facility for planetary issues
c) Portable Shipyard.

I'm going to work off of A  :D

your right in your statement in helping others, as I did when I "designed-a-bash" that thing.
And I do not take my designs seriously at all, it is all fiction afterall...But a bad bash is still a bad bash. (and by bad I mean stuff (like the alseides included) just slapped on.)
As I said before, I don't have a problem with bashes, in fact, I promote them, but dropping nacelles, multiple ones, or saucers from different ships that just don't go (size and scale and era crossing) together just creates havoc...mainly because the textures of said pieces were not altered to be universal (that is a huge problem right there) flowing texture, or the design eras differe so much as they just literally do not go or fit... as before mentioned some stuff just doesn't go with each other...Now again, I personally don't care for wild-nuts kind of bashes SFB is notorious for ...and I'm not even going to touch FASA...but thats not the point, you cannot just slap on son connie struts on a Gall saucer, add some TOS wooden-class hulls as nacelles , and just expect it to work (other than an idea...I'll explain more on that further down)
You want to use an excelsior hull with connie nacelles then by all means go for it, that's totally cool with most of us as it is a personal prefference, but it will look like crap unless it was some-what thought out.  Look at my McCoy, you could easily bash a similar ship by using: a top of a deadalus saucer on an excelsior hull, with Connie struts and 4 modifed oberth engines...but it wassen't bashed, but you would need to create a universal texture to make it work as the McCoy was designed and meshed.
Bashes are fun (at least to me) because they show you ideas that "could be", or make excellent variants for the class like an CA vs CC vs FSC but if you take a connie saucer and hull and drop a third nacelle on it you automatically seem to get a DN (?) !   That makes no sense...but, if you take that bash and say it was a proposed model or mock-up for a more designed vessel that incorporated 3 nacelles, then you got something.
So bash away mates...But lets also start seeing some "finished" ideas on those terms as well...
I draw upon good Bash ideas for even inspiration on full-fledged designs...So get with it people :D

People who don't like a model for whatever reason is fine. Just move onto another thread til you find something you like. There's no reason to be rude though like some (a very small minority) people are. This doesn't mean that constructive criticism isn't a good thing. Some people use the label constructive criticism though as a license to say whatever they want to.

well i got permission from WZ. all you guys need to do is come up with a design. Alec if you want i would welcome any help you may be able to offer. I like the idea of a ship this large been a carrier. but knowing feds they would probably construct her thinking that in times where war isnt spread out over the galaxy that the design would be used for evacuations, relocation, colony moving or indeed a medical platform.

I've got a bit of time tonight for graphics work.. I'll see what I can put together.  (I've been out the last couple of nights picking almost 200 pounds of tomatoes out of our garden).  ;)

Have a couple of ideas now (thanks to your Colony Ship idea as well).
