I was in the league two years ago and it was the same way.   :D  Indy would post a thread on the weeks results and a couple of comments and that's it.  Not that I like to be rude in any way but some good natured ribbing can be fun.

Heck, maybe everyone was talking in this forum.  I never really check here and probably missed it all.

Anyway, thanks to Indy for getting this together again this year.

I have already taunted you all with how you managed to get your asses kicked last year by a girl!

What more do you want before the draft even happens.  Don't worry when AcePylut chooses the Bears Defense in the third round... I will be there.

Ain't that the truth.  You really have to wonder at the autodraft sometimes.

And I don't mind getting my ass kicked by a girl.  They are usually much more polite about it, and prettier too!   ;D

In a 10 team leage, I'm thinking the Bears D might go to the 5th or 6th round.  Yes, they are THAT good.

Don't worry Raven, I got Butt Farve as my starting QB in another league.  I got him in the second to last round of the draft, after I took my kicker  :P  Kinda screwed that draft up a little bit though, was planning on taking the Bears or Ravens in the 5th round, but I took Jamal Lewis instead.  Bears, Ravens, Pats D's were all gone by the time the draft got back to me in that 12 team league.

PS - Favre is going to win me a championship!

Here's why... week 17, Favre's last game of his career, is being played at LambChop Field, against the Detroit Lions.

You can bank on Favre getting 4 TD's and 300 yards passing :)

Y'all think about THAT come sunday, when you're thinking of taking Peyton Manning... who will play for about 1.5 series in week 17 and maybe score a TD for ya.

Lol  Well I actually "homered" and took the Pack Defense in round 13 of a 16 round draft.  And in our league scoring isn't a factor, only stats (Sacks, INT,Fumb, and defensive and special team scoring).  ESPN has a stupid system where if Rex Grossman throws 2 ints for touchdowns, the Bears D/ST have given up 14 points.  Which is a load of crap, so we got rid of it.  Sure Defenses won't be worth as much, but good defenses (especially with ST scores) will still be head and shoulders above the rest.  However I rant the numbers from last year using that method... and the Bears D (in a record setting year thanks to Mr. Hester) would have averaged 2.3 points a game more than the sack machine that was the Packers last year (which looks to be better this year).  So you go ahead and take your Bears D while I get me some pedestrian one at round 14 and will own up on all the skill positions.

Hey but what the hell do I know... I just went on a huge run to make the playoffs and then beat eveyone I faced in the playoffs (including my wife) by an average of 80 points a game.

(That enough smack talk for ya?)

I haven't checked the league scoring yet.  Me thinks me should do that before Sunday.  In the yahoo league I was talking about... the D gets points for scoring TD's, but special teams aren't part of the "D", so Devin Hester returning a TD a week wouldn't do anything other than score points if you have him as your "D" player.  There's a whole bunch of things that score for the D in that league... basically... the Ravens and Bears D averaged as many points as a top level RB.  Of course, if you're like me and drafted Shawn Alexander with the third pick in the draft last year, there's no surprise that my team ended up sucking.

In my current league, Bears, Ravens, NE all went in the 4th round.... then a D wasn't chosen again until about the third to last round.  I got Philly in the last round, and am pretty happy with it.

Yahoo also has that "D" scoring system too.  If you're team gives up 40 points, all of it from special teams or turnover returns, it counts against the D.

I don't think anyone took the packers in the Yahoo league, but I'll check them out and see if they're worthy.  Playing Detroit and Minnesota twice this year is going to be worth something.  Me, I usually don't even bother picking a Defense until the last round.  Shees, one can play the waiver wire in a 10 team league and do just as well as one who picks the bestest greatest most awesomest Defense in the history of the world, da '85 Bears! woot.

Hey, grats on winning last year.  golfclap.  Last year was last year.  That doesn't get ya nothing this year!

Funny thing about trash-talking is that most of the trash talking I do is pretty dirty and nasty.  And I don't feel comfortable enough knowing y'all to make cracks about how your 1" winky doesn't come close to stacking up against my 12" schlong mack truck.

Wait, I think I may have read you wrong on that previoius post...

If Rex Grossman throws 2 picks that get returned for TD's, those points do not count against the Bears D... right?

If so, that just made the Bears D a lot sexier of a pick :)  especially since Rex prolly scored half the TD's scored on the Bears D last year.  At least, when the bears weren't thinking about their first round playoff opponent for a game on New Years Eve.  I'll take da Bears in the 5th round if they're available... and I'll let you pull your hair out deciding if if you want James Jones or Devery Henderson :).  5th Round... lets see, that means I lock up 2 RB's, a QB (if one of the top 6 is still available), and at least 1 WR, before picking the bears, or Ravens (can't decide which one.  Me heart says Bears.  My competitive spirit to win at everything says Ravens.)  Plenty of players will still be available in the 6th and 7th round to fill out the flex spot and 2nd WR position.  TE's?  Blah.  If I don't have Gates, that's another position I can play the waiver wire from week to week for all practical purposes.  I'd rather have Vincent Jackson WR-SD than any TE not named Gates.

PS - in the yahoo league I was in last year, only one "player" scored more points than Baltimore's D... and you can prolly guess what ridiculous TD scoring machine that was.  His name rhymed with Joe-danian Romlinson for you non-FB types out there.

Is this a PPR league?

Point Per Reception

You can assign a player to get a point for every pass reception he gets (or a half point, quarter point, etc.).

It's the receiver equivalent to RB's getting a point for every 5 carries they get, or 10, etc. etc. etc.

A PPR league makes those backs that get lots of receptions (Steven Jackson, Reggie Bush (90ish catches last year), LT) worth more than those who just carry the rock 40 times a game (Shawn Alexander for example)... assuming that PPR exists and not a "point per 5 carries).

I like having ppr and point per 5 or 10 carries.  For example, there was a game last year when my broken down RB Shawn Alexander carried 40 times for some 200ish yards, but didn't score any TD's.  I got a whole 10 points out of that, when my other running back, fill-in Kevan Barlow rushed like 4 times for 5 yards and 2 TD's... and scored 12 points.  Kevan Barlow isn't even in the league anymore.

NO, this isn't ppr. If he runs for 200 yards, I think he gets 20 points (1/10 yards)

OK, I know it's the morning of the draft and I should have asked this earlier.  But how does this draft thing work?  I've never done a live draft before.  I assume there's a room for our draft?  How do I find that?  How much time will we have to make choices, etc?

Thanks.

Go to the league homepage and there will be a link. You can launch the draft from there. You have 90 seconds for each selection.

It is a lot of fun!

The draft room opens 1 hour before the start time. The draft last 1 to 1.5 hours. It depends on how fast people pick. I pick in about 10 seconds since I know what I want. Some people take the full 90 seconds so it drags. If people don't show up, autopick is activated and the computer picks for them immediately. That really speeds things up.

By our current settings... if Sexy Rexy throws and interception that is returned by the Packers for a TD.  The Bears Defense/ST has GIVEN UP 7 points.  D/ST is based on end score, not how many points are scored on the defense.

In my other two leagues we remedied this by not giving out points for final score.  In other words if your defense gets 4 sacks a fumble and an Int you get 8 points.  It doesn't matter if that is in a game that was a shutout or they gave up 50 points.  Return touchdowns (Devon Hester for bears) are counted for the Defense/ST  So in the above game if Devon returned a Kick for a TD they would get 14 points.

Basically it takes final score out of the scoring equation.

The Wolfe's once again showed their dominance :-)

Of course in another league I played my wife....  I wish I could line it up so that happened on the same week in all leagues... rather than prolonging the abuse :-)

Actually I highly recommend that everyone gets their wife into fantasy football...  she was telling me to quiet down because the highlights were on espn!  Plus you can always have the fun of "side bets" that involves sexy clothing and/or hot neighbors.

Blah, you're a 1 and done team Raven.  Jus like dem packers.  (I say that, because on bears forum on the Chi-Trib page, a bunch of packer fans are babbling about how they're going to win the division, they're the best, Bears be lucky to go 7-9, etc., when Philly handed them that game).

Just wait till I play ya, I'll ding you by 80 points!  BOOK IT!

LOL... I dunno I think the defense handed us the game.  And I would imagine that anyone that lives outside the state of Illinois would agree that there is far more to fear in the Philly offense than the Chicago one.

That being said, Packers offense looked horrible.... to be expected when 1/2 your skill positions are rookies (Brett, Bubba, and Donald were the only guys who actually know the offense at this point).

All in all it was nice to see defense and special teams come up big.  However considering that since defenses discovered that Rex Grossman has no idea how to handle an "up the middle" blitz, it is pretty much the same thing in Chicago.  If the D don't win it, the O ain't gonna.

All in all it looks like 3 of the top 6 defenses (Patriots, Chargers, and Ravens) are in the NFC North.  Should be an interesting year.

Unless you hit me on a bye week (and even then) I will take half that 80 point ding, and let you only spot me 40 for $100.  :-)

Somewhere there's a list of QB's that have started for Chicago since Favre started his first game for the Pack.  It's probably like 100.

Orton did great that year -all things considered.  He came in as a rookie that didn't have any first team snaps until Grossman went down and then Quinn or Krenzel or whatever Bozo the Clown the bears had playing QB sucked dog.  I think he deserves a chance to play, if Griese doesn't pan out.  At least Orton is tall enough to see over the line and he doesn't make mistakes.  Plus, he's from Purdue, which is a QB university, so he can probalby throw the ball.  But I don't know.  the Bears are back at square 1 with QB imho, because Rex is finished.  It'll take a miracle for him to recover.  Lets go... clap clap... miracles...clap clap... lets go... miracles!!!

On another topic, (don't be shocked), yesterday, we were all reminded of what a great sportsman Brett Favre is.  Yeah, I hate him because the color of his jersey and all that, but when he threw that TD to Jennings to tie Marion's record, he didn't go into some "look at me" move, or some "camera-motion" by the goal post, sharpie in his sock, or a "lights-out celebration"... nope, none of that garbage.. what did he do?  He ran rull sprint downfield to congratulate his teammate, looked as happy as a junior football league player who just scored his first TD ever, and picked up and carried his teammate off the field.  THAT's how to celebrate a TD.

But then, wtf about not breaking the record in the last minute of the game, at home?  No way Favre was going to throw a pick at the 6 inch line in that game (the only possible reason I could think of to not throw it).  Not with the game he was having.  Not with 4 tries from the 1 yards line.  Not with the record on the line, and certainly not at the Frozen Tundra (er, 75 degress outside at kickoff?  Not exactly NFC North weather).  They should have let Favre throw it and break the record.  And most importantly, it would have given me another 6 points in my Yahoo league :)

Gotta love how both the Pats and the Packers took the "how to stop LT" scheme from the Bears.  It works.  Stop LT, pray gates doesn't hurt you too much, throw in a record tying game from a QB, and what do you get?  LT blowing up at Rivers on the sideline in the 4th.  LOL.

Here I got it... check out these winners:

Jim Harbaugh, Michigan:  Legend has it that Ditka threatened to quit when he was overruled in the draft room about taking Harbaugh with the 26th pick of the 1987 draft.  Harbaugh was vilified at times by Bear fans, but is still the team's all-time leader in attempts, completions and ranks second to Luckman in passing yards.  After Harbaugh's seven seasons in Chicago, he signed with Indianapolis where he was voted to the Pro Bowl following the 1995 season.  Drafted: 1987 (1) Started in: 1988-1993 Released: 1994

Peter Tom Willis, Florida State:  Like all other backup quarterbacks, Willis was a very popular backup to fans: until he played.  He got his chance to start in 1992 when a frustrated Ditka benched Harbaugh.  Willis played pedestrian at best, throwing eight interceptions and four touchdowns in two starts.  Drafted: 1990 (3) Started in: 1992-1993 Released: 1994

Will Furrer, Virginia Tech:  Furrer was a strong-armed left-handed quarterback with promise.  The promise faded in his only start, Ditka's last game at Dallas.  He completed 9 of 25 passes for 89 yards and three interceptions against the Super Bowl-bound Cowboys.  Drafted: 1992 (4) Started in: 1992 Released: 1993

Erik Kramer, North Carolina State:  Kramer would be known as one of the top three quarterbacks in Bears history, with McMahon and Luckman, if he could have done it for more than one year. (what does that tell you about bears qb history lolol)  Kramer piloted Ron Turner's first brilliantly successful offense in 1995, setting Bears season records for attempts, completions, yards and touchdown passes.  But he was hurt in 1994, 96, and 98.  His original three-year deal, inked in 1994, was extended for two more in '98, but he was cut after the first year.  Signed: 1994 Started in: 1994-1998 Released: 1999

Steve Walsh, Miami:  Signed as a backup to Kramer in 1994, Walsh took over after a Kramer injury and guided the team to its first playoff appearance since 1991.  And its last playoff win since then.  He lost the battle for the starting job in 1995 to Kramer and warmed the bench that season.  Signed: 1994 Started in: 1994 Lost to free agency: 1996

Dave Krieg, Milton College:  Kreig was so old when the Bears signed him in 1996 that the college he played for no longer had a football team as of that point.  1996 was his 17th season in the NFL, and he was signed strictly as a backup.  With the Chicago Bears, however, that is an expectation to be playing by game five.  That's exactly what happened when a struggling Kramer was lost for the season with a neck disc injury.  Signed: 1996 Started in: 1996 Not re-signed: 1997

Rick Mirer, Notre Dame:  Dave Wannstedt's Chicago epitaph says something about trading for Rick Mirer.  Mirer's cost was a first-round pick, the 11th in the draft.  He lasted one hideous, awful season in Chicago.  He didn't even start the season, as Kramer was healed and Mirer looked terrible.  Traded for: 1997 Started in: 1997 Released: 1998

Steve Stenstrom, Stanford:  Stenstrom was one of several intriguing quarterbacks selected in the fourth round of the 1995 draft.  Kansas City drafted him, then tried to quickly release him to re-sign him to a lower salary that year.  The Bears jumped at the chance to steal the guy praised by Bill Walsh as a budget Joe Montana.  Stenstrom was putrid in his 1998 starts, relieving an again-injured Kramer.  Walsh then signed him in San Francisco and got to see how bad he was closeup.  Signed: 1995 Started In: 1998 Released: 1999

Moses Moreno, Colorado State:  Stenstrom was so bad that rookie seventh-round pick Moses Moreno started a game in 1998.  He injured his knee, ending his career for the Bears.  Drafted: 1998 (7) Started in: 1998 Released: 1999

Shane Matthews, Florida:  Matthews was a third-stringer for the Bears from 1993-1995, then again in 1996, and was brought back for a third time in 1999.  Following the release of Kramer, Matthews became the first starter for Gary Crowton's "razzle dazzle offense".  Matthews played admirably from 1999-2001, but lacked a big-time arm.  He struggled when he replaced Jim Miller following Miller's injury in the 2001 playoff game, and was not resigned.  Signed: 1993, 1996, 1999 Started in: 1999-2001 Not resigned: 2002

Cade McNown, UCLA:  Petulant, arrogant, smarmy, you name a few adjectives to describe the quarterback predicted to be the next Jim McMahon.  Declared that he didn't drink, smoke or have premarital sex, but he was indicted for misusing handicapped parking placards.  Angered his teammates so much that they reportedly threatened mutiny if he were started over Matthews in the final game of 2000.  Had brief stops in Miami and San Francisco but never threw another pass in the NFL following a final completion against Detroit in the 2000 finale.  Did pocket close to $20 million on his rookie deal.  Drafted: 1999 (1) Started in: 1999-2000 Traded: 2001

Jim Miller, Michigan State:  Miller was signed off the scrapheap in 1998 following Moreno's knee injury.  He was a longshot to make the roster in 1999.  He responded by throwing for huge numbers in Crowton's offense, then led the Bears to the playoffs in 2001.  Almost as oft-injured as McMahon.  Signed a five-year extension prior to the 2002 season, only completed one year on the deal.  Signed: 1998 Started in: 1999-2002 Released: 2003

Chris Chandler, Washington:  See Dave Krieg.  Again, wasn't supposed to have to play for Miller.  Again, had to replace Miller in week seven.  Chandler was as injury-prone as McMahon and Miller, and was knocked woozy in Champaign against Philadelphia.  Had to be dragged like an invalid to the medical trailer behind the Memorial Stadium scoreboard.  Turned in gritty performances in 2003 in relief of Kordell Stewart, but it was for naught.  Signed: 2002 Started in: 2002-2003 Not resigned: 2004

Henry Burris, Temple:  Touted as the biggest surprise from the CFL since, and better than, Jeff Garcia.  "Happy Hank" was his nickname.  One pathetic start in Chicago is his legacy.  Signed: 2002 Started in: 2002 Released: 2003

Kordell Stewart, Colorado:  See Henry Burris, but with a better NFL resume.  The Bears signed Stewart to a two-year deal over an available Jake Delhomme due to his experience, albeit bad experience.  Finally benched for good after throwing game-changing interceptions at Green Bay, ending Chicago's dim playoff hopes.  Signed: 2003 Started in: 2003 Released: 2004

Jonathan Quinn, Middle Tennessee State:  Recommended by new Offensive Coordinator Terry Shea to help install his offense.  Hoped to only fill mentor role.  Was thrust into action when Rex Grossman blew up his knee in the season's third week.  Absolutely abysmal: threw three picks and one touchdown with a 53.7 rating in 2004.  Signed: 2004 Started in: 2004 Released: 2005

Craig Krenzel, Ohio State:  Picked in the fifth round in 2004, ended up starting due to the utter misery that was Quinn's play.  Became the starter on October 31st and won three games in a row--not bad for a rookie--but was helped immensely by his defense and poor competition.  Injured on Thanksgiving at Dallas and was supplanted by Chad Hutichinson.  Drafted: 2004 (5) Started in: 2004 Released: 2005

Chad Hutchinson, Stanford:  Claimed off a surfboard following Rex Grossman's knee injury that ended his 2004 season.  Defeated the Minnesota Vikings in his first start, looking like the answer to the Bears' quarterback problems of the past.  Played very average in four straight losses to end the 2004 season.  Looked to start in 2005 after Grossman's last injury, but was atrocious in the preseason.  Cut.  Signed: 2004 Started in: 2004 Released: 2005

Kyle Orton, Purdue:  Pressed into duty when Grossman injured his ankle, and Hutchinson stunk, in the 2005 preseason.  Became only the second rookie quarterback since 1970 to win 10 starts, but like Krenzel he was helped greatly by a great defense.  Deserves a lot of credit for steadying the ship in 2005 prior to Grossman's return, but is in a good place as the team's third-stringer.  Drafted: 2005 (4) Started in: 2005

Rex Grossman, Florida:  29 quarterbacks and 28 years later, Bear fans hope Grossman continues the health and performance he has shown in the first five games of the 2006 season.  Drafted: 2003 (1) Started in: 2003-2006

(these are qb's from the Favre era... but the article I pulled this from went back to like 1975 to discuss Bears QB woes... the late 70's, starting when future Hall of Famers  like Bob Avellini and Vince Evans played QB for the bears)

I'm just happy I finally got a win this week!  Man o man are the Saints offense and Drew Brees looking might crappy this year.  With pretty much everyone back from last season I figured they would be decent at least.  No such luck.  However, with Deuce going down Bush may get more carries.  I'm not sure if that is a good thing this year though.

Bears QB Saga lives on.... Brian Greise is already getting skewered by the Chicago media.   "He's not the answer".  "He's not good enough."  "Play Orton."

I dropped a greise orton the other day, and it was gross, man.

AP and Raven this week.  You've got great matchups... but the Bears D????  Are you serious?  Is that a little blue and orange creeping into your green and yellow?

Gotta love what Fantasy Football does.  I watch totally lame matchups just to see how my boys perform.  I root for hated players because they are on my team.   My wife gets a glazed look in her eye when me and her bro start talking FFL.

I love it.  Sundays are all about 12 hours of football :)

I could not agree with you more! I've started watching games I would NEVER have watched a few years ago! I found myself rooting for the Lions and then caught myself. "hey, I'm rooting for the Lions?"

I think it's funny that my selection of the Raven's D is going to be the key to this weeks victory against Raven.  Yes, another stellar output (lolol) by my team.  This is what's called winning ugly.  Scoring hardly any fantasy points, but winning because the opponent had an even worse day.

Yeah, I'm 5-1.

But I tell you, 5-1 never felt worse than it does with this team... given that I've won the last two games because the other guys team played worse.  It's not like my yahoo team, where the 5-1 guy has just blown opponents out of the water with the high score in 5 of 6 weeks  (although it took a last second brady-moss TD to beat me (and he has both Brady and Moss  >:( ))... no sir ree... I'm the king of the leage in suckout victories for ESPN.

But I'll take it with the heartbreak my yahoo boys have given me over the last couple years.  You know how there's always that "insignificant play" that causes some fantasy FB team to lose?  That's been me the last couple years in Yahoo.

For example:  Last Year.  I'm winning a game against my brother in law by 6 points.  I have Sean Merriman on D, he has Todd Heap on O as the last two players left for us.  LAST friggin play of the game, Ravens QB throws to Heap on the 1 yard line.  Super Stud Merriman blasts Heap, but didn't tackle him, Heap lunges across the goal line.  I lose by 1 point.

Last year (or maybe it was two years ago, can't remember, the heartbreaks all blend together after a while).  I'm beating a guy by 20 points going into a Monday night contest.  All the other guy has left is Chris Cooley.  Our scoring says Chris cooley needs 3 TD's to win.  What does Mr. 1 TD in the last 10 or so game do?  Goes out and scores 3 TD's as a fricking tight end, and I lose.

I've got 4 years of bs losses like this.  Just terribly demoralizing losses.  Come on.  Frigging TE scoring 3 TD's (he had 6 all year.  SIX).

But I can't complain this year.... because yes, believe it or not, that last second field goal by Folk of Dallas against Buffalo cost a guy the game.  Funny!  The eventual winner was losing by 4 points, and all that could save him was a 50+ yard field goal (in our leage, 50+ yarders are 5 points, 49 and less is three points).  Didn't seem possible in the last few minutes of the game, that there would even BE a 50 yard attempt. So what do the Cowboys do?  Score a TD, but then TO drops the 2 point conversion (even funnier, the eventual loser had TO on his team).  Buff's bungle the onside kick, cowboys recover, Folk gets the FG, and the guy loses the game LOLOLOL.

I always suck at fantasy football.  But I have fun doing it.  And I also find myself watching pointless games just to see if one of my players does well.  Not to mention yelling at the TV, "Don't throw it to him!  Throw it to #17!!!"

Well my luck ran out this week.  Ran into a TD machine called Tom Brady.  Not even the first ballot hall of famer Kenny Watson would have saved me, had I played him.

GG Scottie boy :)

I love FFL.

In this league, I've gone from 5-1 league leader to 5-3 in two weeks.  In my Yahoo league, I'm on a 4 game tear and have gone from #11 of 12 at 1-3 to tied for #2 at 5-3.  Weeeeeeeeee  :drinkinsong:

Speaking of which, Raven, you'll never find a happier bear fan than me, to see Brett Favre throw a perfect 82 yard bomb on the first play in OT to win the game...on the last play of the week...because I was losing in my yahoo game by like 3 points going into OT with faav-ra as my WB.  I basically needed him to throw a TD from anywhere on the field.  Fat chance of that happening, I thought at the beginning of OT.  I thought he'd just dink and dunk into FG range and kick the fg. But schwing, he threw da bomb and scored the TD that I needed to win my yahoo league by 3 :)   :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:  That league has been crazy this year.  First we did actually have that guy lose his game because of the Dallas-Buffalo ending. Then this happens.  I ain't a com'planian'

I've got the worst kind of injury right now.  One where my #1 pick Rudi Johnson is "probable" for each week, meaning he plays for about 5 plays then gets benched in favor of next years #1 pick of the entire draft Kenny "Who" Watson.

Well that, and my team is sucking over the last three weeks.

Oh well, if I win in ESPN, I lose in Yahoo.  And I won big time in yahoo thanks to Jamal Lewis's awesome 37 yard performance with 4TD's.

And when it comes down to it, yahoo is worth more because there's $$ riding on it.  The dyna league is just for braggin' rights.

Now, if Willie Parker can lay about 6 TD's on the Ravens, and the Ravens D can return like 4 turnovers for scores, I'll recant :)

Though I am happy to be meeting Indy on Brady's bye :-)

Not me! I barely won the last game by 4 points. I am happy to miss Brady!

I am just glad I don't have to play Jen again until the playoffs. She killed me in the first week.

One of these weeks P.Manning and Peterson are both going to explode - and i'll rake in a 140ish performance.

(heck, a couple weeks ago in a different ESPN league my team scored 165)

I had 1 player with 40+, multiple in the 15+ range  IIRC the lowest score I had from any player was 8 or 9.

Adrian Peterson, Tom Brady, Randy Moss etc

Of course, that league is a PUL - half the 'owners' dont even change their lineups - but did draft

I find it Ironic that I am going to lose to the Indy fan, because Addai and Indy sucked up the field last night.  All I needed was an "average" performance and I had a shot.  Oh well Lets hope Holmegren's "pass first" doctrine is in full swing tonight, cause I need a miracle.

My "win in yahoo lose in ESPN" continues!".

I'll win this week in ESPN, but lost in Yahoo.

My boys da Bears exploded on offense yesterday and scored 17.  Just an outright dominating offensive performance.

Raven, I have Addai in my yahoo league, and I'm glad he picked this week to suck.  I basically needed 5 TD's and 200 yards from him to have a shot at winning, and he's been carrying me so long he was due for a poor game.  I'm glad it came this week when I was prolly not going to win anyways.

Ugh.

What a horrible FFL week almost across the board.
I lose my top RB in 2 leagues for at least a week; and lose 4/6 games; including my perfect season.

Oh, and my Dyna team decided to tank on me again.

Hmm.  Next week should be interesting

My win last week was about the only good sports thing that happened for me.  The Buckeyes lost and my kids HS team lost in the playoffs.  I'm due for a loss here soon, over due actually.

Saw a notice that 21 November was the trade cut off date.  Everyone start making those deals now!  lol

I'd noticed that about the trades.  Normally there are a bunch of trades in a FFL but everyone must be pretty happy with their teams I guess.

I hate all the talkers.  Any of those guys that run their mouths irritate me.  I realize they should be having fun, they are getting paid a lot of  money to play a game after all, but the ones with an attitude really tick me off.

So I pretty much started every Packer I own... :-)   That seems to have worked out nicely for me.

I wonder if I can get about 80-90 points by the end of Thursday?  Time to start making a playoff run I think.

Well, it looks like it worked again.  I thought I might get some help with Adai went out early but I guess he came back.  Ah well, hopefully I will have a good weekend.  This is going to be the most strung out weekend of the year.

Actually from here on out they all get strung out... Thursday games from here on in thanks to NFL Network.  Saturday games will come soon thanks to the ending College season.  All in all Football is about to get more exposure (except for the aforementioned NFL Network, which I luckily have!)

Lucky.

Crapcast dropped NFL to their sports tier; so I dont have NFL network anymore.  Which means I'll miss watching the Pack demolish the Cowboys.

(Get that?  A Viking fan rooting for the Packers?!?!  What's next, cats&dogs living together in harmony with mice and ferrets?)

woot 28 points.  ok I quit now.  My sweet start is being destroyed by a bunch of puds that can't find the end zone and a loser qb that can't stay healthy.

Well with only one person guaranteed a spot in the playoffs and none of the 7-5 teams playing each other it should be interesting for the other 3 spots.  Jen could be The division winner, or completely out depending on this weeks action.  For me it should pretty much be win and I am in, as I have the tie breaker pretty well locked up.  I sure hope we don't end up with the "Wolfe Bowl" again this year :-)

I get the feeling my 7-5 team will fall.  Going up against the one team I realistically have no chance against if ESPN's predictions are even close to accurate.

Just my fate this year.  Have one of the top scoring teams in a league; and pull a crappy game RIGHT when i really need a win.

It's been fun though :)

well, for tomorrow nights game...

I hope that TO doesn't catch a single ball, I hope Greg Jennings doesn't catch a single ball, I hope Brett Favre throws for 6 TD's, and I hope the Pack loses 37-36... because of the two teams I dislike most, the Cowboys only rate a few inches above GB.

And oh yeah, here's hoping that all my chumpchange starters actually do something... like hoping Willie "Look Ma, No TD's" Parker scores a TD or 4.

Hehe in my money league, with the 4th pick in the draft I snagged Addai.   It was the smartest move I made, because I was basically in a coin flip with him and Gore.

I also managed to do a straightup trade Fitzgerald (ari) for Alexander... and what do you know... as soon as I made that trade and got Alexander, Alexander goes down with an injury and Fitzgerald starts to light it up.  But that's ok, because I was very deep in WR's, and I really only thinking that I'd need Alexander during the playoffs.  It's a PPR league, so WR's are about as valuable as RB's, especially since you only get a point for every 20, not 10, rushing or receiving yards.

How can we be in the "CONSOLATION LADDER" when we haven't even played a game in the playoffs yet?  I assume it's single elimination?

Good Luck!  I know I'll need it.   :D

Now if I can figure out what the hell Denver is doing at RB I should be ok.

Well, it looks like my late season injuries have begun.  Bush is now out for the season so my top RB is down and out.  He may not have been the best RB but he was the best I had.  Ah well, I have a bit of a lead going into this coming week.  Hopefully that will help.

I kind of asked this a while ago but no answer.  Since I'm in the consolation bracket for the playoffs does that mean I'm out of the running for the championship?  If so that's OK, it will just rather suck that the loss in the last week of the regular season cost me any shot at the title.  lol

OK, thanks.  Rather sucks since I think I was listed as #2 for a week or two after a couple of wins and then I lost the last game of the season.  Then we had that log jam of every one at 8-5 and I dropped due to tie breakers, etc.  Ah well.

The Tie Breaker was Total points scored.  Jen won her division due to the fact that that she had more points then the other 8-5 team in her division...  So She got the #2 seed for winning her division.  Then I got the #3 seed as I had the highest points scored of all the people tied (Higher than Jen actually, but I was not in her division and Indy won our division outright by wins).  Finally the last slot came from the next highest score of the (Also higher than Jen's score) by the Lords in the same division as Indy and I.  So basically because you and Jen were tied for the division title and Jen had 51 more total points than you, she won the division.  Due to the fact that the other two 8-5 teams you were tied with for the two wild card spots actually had more points too, you lost that tie break as well.

So that is why at 8-5 you are on the outside looking in.

If it makes you feel better, you can be happy that both the #1 and #2 seed (divisional winners) look like they are both going to go down in flames in the first playoff game.  So for the second year in a row #3 will face #4 for the title game.

Jen and Indy will face off for 3rd place.

Good luck to you guys.  That's one effed up playoff system ESPN has there.  Threw me for a twist that's for sure.

oh well, in my yahoo league, I'm in the playoffs, won the first round, and am playing for a right to play for the title.  I'm playing against my brother in law, he's got Brady/Moss/Welker and nobody else of note.  Here's AP doing a rain/sleet/hail/snow/wind/ice dance for New England.   :singing:

I win this, I move to the Championship with $315 on the line. I lose, I play for a measely 50$ if I win, nothing if I lose.

Even though I benefitted from ESPN's odd playoff system; I agree; it is an odd system

It should be either the top 4 teams by record (tiebreaker is points scored, no divisions); or the top 2 from each division.

The Top 4 would have resulted in the same playoff teams; but different pairings.

Going by top 2 in division; I'd have lost out.

Good luck to you guys.  That's one effed up playoff system ESPN has there.  Threw me for a twist that's for sure.

Um, I wasn't complaining.  Just commenting that it was a rather weird system.  If they have a two week combined playoff they could just add two more teams to the playoff system.  At least they should be able to.  Anyway it's been a fun season.  Good luck to those in the title game.

The playoff setup is chosen by the league manager.

In another league we had 12 teams in two 6 team divisions.  There we had 11 weeks of regular season, everyone plays everyone else once.  Score was second tie breaker to head to head.  Still had division champs but then took next 4 best records.  Then week 12 was a one and done playoff for wild card teams.  Then 13-14 was divisional playoffs with 15-16 being the championship game.

Then another league I run was 8 teams two divisions 4 playoff spots.  Week 15 and 16 are the one and done playoffs there.

All up to personal choice.  I would say if you want it changed talk to the LM for next year.  I personally think it is fine.... kind of nice to have a pretty tight playoff.

Well I spotted you a 15-16 points... lets see if I can make a comeback.  Had to struggle a bit for starters as several of my players will be sitting for most of their games.

Oh well... the risk you take!

Looks like I should have taken Jen's approach, just earn enough to win the game in the first game! :-)

I'm in the same boat where it comes to starters.

I don't remember if ESPN's leagues went to wk 17 last year or not.  Kinda annoying that most FFL championships will be decided by JV squads.
Will be interesting and fun :)

I'm in the same boat where it comes to starters.

I don't remember if ESPN's leagues went to wk 17 last year or not.  Kinda annoying that most FFL championships will be decided by JV squads.
Will be interesting and fun :)

I run a couple ESPN leagues and that can all be set at the beginning.  I did week 17 championships last year and decided it would be better to end week 16 in both leagues.  Nice thing is the two week playoff games here offset that some.

ESPN is really pretty customizable and I am sure that Indy would be open to suggestions for next year, however this league is normally a "last minute one" in terms of everyone getting in, so it can be tough for him to make decisions without even knowing who all is playing.

I speak as a commish for two espn leagues... getting peope to agree on a format of play is like herding cats.

Hey Raven, see that person with the big "C" on his sweater that the red arrow is pointing to, and the lovely bundled up lady the other red arrow is pointing to?

That's me and my wife, freezing our arses off at the game last Sunday!

Well said Raven. I agree 100%. I also like ending at 16 weeks and may try that next year. I hate it when teams sit all of their starters!

Well I am sure you enjoyed it thoroughly!  It was painful to watch... now I think I understand how Bears fans felt in their 13-3 year when 2 of the losses were the Packers.  Of course that year the Packers were 12-4 and playoff bound  ;D ;D

Suggestions for next year:

1) Regular Season ends wk 13
2) Semi-finals (week 14) is a 1 week match
3) 2 week final match (Week 15+16)
4) Increase scoring on safeties to 4 points (up from 2)

Well Darth... Congrats.  Short of a miracle, it looks like I am toast.  Having no running backs was just too much to overcome!  Congrats on the championship!

I guess for me and wifey that 2nd and 3rd will just have to do.

By the way Indy... wow... Jen beat you like a redheaded step child!

Love,

Yeah, my team fell apart this year at the end. I seem to have that problem every year. I play well in the regular season and fade in the end

Next year, we are going to have a 8 week regular season! LOL

Do you think we will have enough players to field a league this year?

Reactivate the league send out email asking if they are still in...

Then call for replacements.

That is what I am doing in my leagues.

I'm in.  Gonna kick butt this year.

What's with this "Favre's thinking about coming back" smack I hear out of Wisconsin?

Will do!

Tried to follow link and it said no such league.  I was able to just reactivate last years league once I logged in for the ones I run.

Can someone send me a copy of the league email I sent out yesterday. My email deleted it and I need the addresses to send invitations.

Thanks
