Some people just never seem to quit.......
« on: August 16, 2007, 10:16:27 pm »
Been a long time for me.....I see some of you never found anything better to do, lol. Hope there are those who will remember my simple battle style and basic attack vectoring......be nice to me and I might grace you with my presence again, lol

I see some of my old friends are still around.....and a few of my favorite nemisis', (or would that be nemisi for plural?).

have to dig out and reload. let me know whats needed for what ever server is active at the moment......Phew! This ship smells of mothballs!

'Hail Gurthang! No lord or loyalty dost thou know, save the hand that wieldeth thee. From no blood wilt thou shrink. Wilt thou therefore take Túrin Turambar, wilt thou slay me swiftly?'
And from the blade rang a cold voice in answer: 'Yea, I will drink thy blood gladly, that so I may forget the blood of Beleg my master, and the blood of Brandir slain unjustly. I will slay thee swiftly.'

The Forge-Fragmentation Effect is the active MySQL server up.
See the 2 stickies at the top of this board:
The Forge - Fragmentation Effect

The Forge, 3rd Edition

for info and the packs to DL for being able to join it :)
Starfleet Headquarters out.

Fleet Commodore, XenoCorp, ISC Fleet.

I have been digging around here in some old threads and realized there are a LOT of the old gang I  really miss. Not just playing a game with, but conversations missed, posts looked forward to, jabs to deliver.....and recieve, and even the occasional heated debate to take part in, or watch bloom into a life of it's own. Many a fleetmate has gone by the way for a varied number of reasons, only to return if but to pass a greeting, fly a mission or 2, and then return to the mist of the world outside these forums.

You, as a group.....not Federation, (although if you had any sense you WOULD be), not Klingon, (heavy emphasis on the "not", lol), not Hydran, or Kzin, not ISC, or Gorn.......not even Romulan, have continued with comraderie and acceptance of all, (......well with the possible exception of Kroma :-[). I think that is what keeps me from tossing aside for good a "game" I have invested so many years in. I read through an archive recently and found my first post on a forum related to this community back in 1999 begging for some one to tell me how to get the game running right to play online. This was my first online gaming experience. There weren't shout downs of "NOOB" or "figure it out yourself" like I see so often in other games I have since experienced.

I doubt I will ever play WoW again, Likely won't dabble with ......(what WAS the name of that other space game?), and really only give cursory attention to LOTR.....yet I find myself once again being drawn back to here, and to you. If you are reading this then I truly mean YOU as you are a part of the whole that makes this group what it is. I'm not the best pilot to ever play the game, (and look there's Krueg at the head of the line to agree with me, lol),and I don't have the technical skill to create new ships or missions yet you put up with folks like me without reservation. You are unique in the gaming world based on my experience.

I Salute you!

well I know that its the players here that have kept me coming back, and believe me there have been soooooooooo many times that I have said to my self no more and then find my self wondering whats going on with you guys ( just when I think I have gotten out it sucks me back in)  I have played other games but this group feels more like family than gamers.

1999 - remember how you had to go into the INI file and all that? My PC was so weak that I had dots or something instead of models and fighters were one pixel I think - I had to sweep the cursor until I saw the tragetting brackets to find most things.

I remember all that stuff.
I thought I'd never get things adjusted so I could see what was going on.
I wound up buying and installing more ram and a video card just for this game!
