SFC3 Online multiplayer has been shutdown
« on: August 18, 2007, 08:56:53 am »
Hi,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but here is a message from Activision.

"Response (Russell Johnson) - 08/17/2007 02:22 PM
Hello.

Thank you for contacting Activision. The Dynaverse access servers for
Star Trek: Startfleet Command III have been shut down. Online
multiplayer support for this title has been discontinued."

The end of a great era.  :-[

Worfy

Well, like I said in the other thread about this...

Seems reasonable to let dynaverse.net host a SFC3 Dynaverse with no strings attached, no promises of support.

Actually this is about the best solution I've seen so far.  I'm not sure what all is needed in order to do this.. BUT ..  if it means that Activision can get out from under what ever agreements are in place  (no further involvement) then they might buy into it.

Before you jump into anything you should have a lawyer that is familiar with such arrangements and review ALL ramifications of the agreement.  Some of them will undoubtedly be favorable ..  (and knowing Activision) ..  some of them you will not.  The ideas that are less favorable would have to be reviewed carefully and negotiated.  BUT that is just business.

(just my 2 cents on the subject)
If you aim at nothing:  you WILL hit it every time !
