« on: October 18, 2004, 05:33:47 pm »
Greetings Everyone,

This is the next Mission for SFCII OP that I will be releasing by late this week or early next week.
The Fleet Pick Project is currently being beta tested by a few SFC Community Members but it would be great if more people can help out.

If your interested in helping out with beta testing please sign up at the 12 omega forums and send me a "PM" that you want to dl Fleet Pick Beta for testing. I will grant you access to the dl area.

What is Fleet Pick?

Fleet Pick is a customized multiplayer mission program that allows a Host Player to set up various types of skirmish battles for Starfleet Command II Orion Pirates.

Players can choose between two teams, Team A or Team B and can have up to eight allied AI Team Ships on their side. The Host can also designate ships, starbases, planets etc. for all Human Players by selecting the 'Host Selected' option or allow Human Players to select their own ships by choosing the 'Player Selected' option.

FEATURES:

1. 1-6 Human Players.

2. Can be Player vs Player, Player vs AI, or both Player vs Player with AI's.

3. Host can assign ships to (Client) Players or Players can select their own ships. Total of 22 Ships / Objects.

4. Host can assign up to 20 individual Ship Starting Positions on the Map.

5. Human Player Teams (Team A or Team B) can have up to 8 AI Ships, assigned to their team. This allows for setting up Base Assaults, Planetary Assaults, Armada Type Skirmishes; pretty much any type of skirmish that you can think up.

6. Fleet Pick creates a "Fleet Pick Startup.txt" on your machines local C:\ Drive. This file displays all ships that have been generated in your custom Game Set. Model Developers can use this feature to pin point Mods that do not show due to folder assigning errors.

7. At the end of each match Fleet Pick will create a ''FleetPick Records.txt'' file (Local C:\ Drive) on all user machines. This file will display all ship objects that were destroyed, disengaged, captured and remaining during the game. This feature makes Fleet Pick ideal for online Multiplayer Tournaments.

8. Fleet Pick also works hand in hand with "Ship Edit" for easy viewing and selection of ships and/or objects  from the ShipList.txt file.

9. Includes a Game Set ("FPData.DAT" data storage file) feature that allows you to store your customized skirmishes for later use. You can create and save as many Game Sets you desire.

10. Fleet Pick is a Universal Program. It will work with the Original 2552, Firesoul's OP+3.4, Chris Jones TNG, and anything else thats out there for OP.

SCREEN SHOTS:

The Map Viewer gives the user a visual perspective for assigning Ship Start Positions.

Jaw Drops to the floor!

WOW!

Does this mean novice scripters like me can basically make and  play a Doomsday Machine scenario?

Awesome work  even if the later is not possible.

The behaviors for the Doomsday Machine Scenario will not be there, that has to be coded in.
But you can select the desired ships for that type of skirmish.

I am happy to report that this information is inaccurate. Your Fleet Pick Beta shows that you can get the planet killer to work normally with NO coding changes as an AI ship. I did it in the Psuedo Wars (Odds vs Evens).

I have played the Doomsday Machine as my ship and seemed unbeatable; my first games vs GPFTS and their plasmas didn't harm me, a few games later I swapped out the GPFTS for  6 F-CAIs vs 1 M-LDM; of note shuttles and ships did not destroy the planet-killer.

http://klingonfanatic3.20m.com/images/m-ldm.jpg

I then switched the M-LDM for a single F-CAI [I used Chandley's instead of Connies] and put the M-LDM into the AI slot. The maw effect worked fine and a single admin shuttle took the Doomsday Machine out. That needs to be changed some how.

I am still tweaking the stats for the M-DML. I swapped out the PPDs for maulers but found that 5 Maulers with 50 battery power was not enough to take out a single GPFT. I upped the Battery power to 100 and reduced the number of Maulers to one.

The HET % is also too high when I played it I noted a HET 0f 216! The AI had a grand time at my aft end and there I was turning a planet killer around like a fighter!

Be that as it may, the new Fleet pick Rocks! Thank you CV.

Glad your enjoying it KF ;).
Maybe we can get up on GSA so I can try a few of your Game Sets. I am always curious to see the scenarios that people come up with.

Problem spotted: Uninstaller.

The Team Battles uninstaller got overwritten by the Fleet Pick as far what's in the startmenu. It's a bit screwed up.

Ah been away for a while.

Anything that tracks damage is worth looking closely at for our campaigns.  So far we have had to rely on Sector Assault, but I would like to see what this has to offer.

Thanks for the work.
