OT: Can Anyone Build This ?
« on: July 17, 2007, 11:01:21 am »
Since most of us bash with GAFY?'s - p81 models retextures. Can anyone create a standard connie saucer with the bottom of the saucer looking like this? Mackie. Alec, Anyone?  :)

 ;D

I sent an message to Chris Jones regarding his ST: Legacy Ultimate Universe mod. From the video fottage I saw of it there is a TMP FDD Akula (NOT THE PA Vessel) with a similar deflector on the bottom saucer. Maybe that can be converted to SFC and used to kitbash other ships?

That's pretty cool. I like that concept. Unfortunately, I cannot bash it.

Yet. :D

As for textures, wouldn't it look a little silly being flat when the deflector is meant to be vertical?

It is vertical, but you can't cee it from that angle. It sits out like this -----

Yeah, thats a pretty massive alteration of ship structure. thats a plain build, not a kitbash.

Gotta admire the effort to put a dish on a single hull ship and avoid the "dish on a stick" design. The rest of the saucer detail is even better, IMO. I especially like the Shinma.

Hmmm, possibly, I know where I can get the saucer, it's the structure around it I'd have to figure out where to get it from..

Hey.. (du'h).. those little diddles on the side.. those are the secondary sensors off the engineering hull.. got it.  :)

Somebody should contact Destiny Calling. IIRC, he was making just such a saucer for a late TMP/lost era Chandley class.

He has not responded to my hails since before he vanished from the SFC community.

Thanks for the link t o more pics, MP. I agree that the Shinma is pretty cool and a great model, especially with the saucer shuttlebay - though I'm not sure the fleet would have put the shuttlebay under the registry.  :-\

Does anyone know what that detail on the front edge of the saucer is, port & starboard?

I agree on the shuttlebay placement, I think it looks better toward the rear as on his Sullivans. I'm guess those exposed parts are just that, a little detail he added to spice up the model. Maybe something experimaental that he neglected to post about since the ship is experimantal ? There should be an email link on the page the ship was posted on so maybe you wanna contact him and ask for more info and pics  ;D

Alot of the ships in Jackills revised book use this type of Deflector. he pretty much revised
every destroyer in the book to this configuration. the only ships he didn't touch were Canon ships Like
the Miranda class, Soyuz class, Constellation class, and Miranda Varients that were seen
on tng and DS 9   ;D
