problems and bugs
« on: July 19, 2007, 12:18:50 pm »
Hello.

My ship dissapeared, without any explanation. I played the shipyard-planet defence scenario, won it (captured 2 enemy ship and destroyed the 3rd), got the prestige, moved to the base hex so I can upgrade my ship, then went on forum to buy from here. My ship dissapeared.

Yesterday I played on my old account, and my early DN destroyed at the start of game (exploded) in the same shipyard defence scenario.

I played today with KGeek several times the same scenario, but it spawned very powerful opponents. Further more, we teleported capturing parties on ennemy ships, but the diifference 4-7 or other didn't start to go down for 10 minutes. When I got destroyed, both ships with marines on board were captured instantly.

Please give me back my ships or compensate me, and PLEASE remove this buggy - ultrahard scenario.

Thanks.

I doubt it's the mission, although, it is a small possibility.
Sounds like the Hand of Bethke.
It has been around as long as this game, and, as far as I know, cannot be explained or fixed.
A quick "alt F4" is the only way to avoid losing your ship.
But, doing so causes huge DB spikes in the server and can crash the server if it's done a lot.
So, if you have the PP to spare, bite the bullet and just buy another.
If you PM Braxton, he's currently admining The Forge, he can probably compinsate your account.
It would help his efforts if you had an idea of how much the ship cost.

Hey Krueg, I know the exploding ship bug, it happened to me before, that's not the problem.
The problem is the dissapearing ship, you exit the mission ok, go to planet hex, exit the game, go on shipyard on forum and realize that you have no ship.

I'm starting again, I don't have the PP to buy another ship.

Every once in awhile I notice some quirks going back and forth between the OCI and the game -- this morning I bought a klingon base using the OCI, and when I fired the game up it gave me a fed heavy cruiser.  Logged off, went back to the OCI, and it still told me I had my ship plus a base.  The problem persisted until I sold the base using the OCI and purchased another.

Ran into a similar problem earlier, where the ship I purchased using the OCI didn't appear in missions, but did show up when you right-clicked my name on the D2 map.  (Same solution worked: log off, sell the offending beastie using the OCI, and try again.)

<shrugs>  The OCI is cool enough that I'm happy to live with the odd bug here and there  ;D

Agreed on the subject of the size of the opposition in the shipyard defense mission.  An updated version is in my posted pack, which will likely appear on the Forge sometime in the future (Forge IV?)

I don't know any specifics, as I haven't actually looked at the part of the code that handles it, but before you buy a ship, make sure it isn't marked as "Restricted" on the ship list by viewing it.  Might cause problems, don't rightly know.
