Topic: Firewalled again on Vista (Read 3278 times)

Reinstalled OP, patched it up, OP+. I have been unable to get passed the version check for dynaverse login. I am getting firewall message. I have tried with port forwarding set. I have tried with computer in the DMZ. I was able to login to the dyna previously on Vista. Now, I can't. What have other people done to get online in the dynaverse on Windows Vista??

Windows firewall is off. Antivirus is off. Internet protected mode is off.

I have even run the exe as administrator. Nothing is working.

Found the problem. OP+ install directory server fix does not work. I had to download the standalone directory server patch to get online. Someone should note this somewhere to keep others from ripping out their hair.

This may not have been the issue either. Still getting firewall message more often than not. Looks like I will need to pull out my laptop to play OP if this continues.

Im finding the samething on my home computer. I turn off everthing and still getting firewall mesages. As far as Vista goes.......... IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!

At least now I know it just isn't me.Hope someone can help solve this,I hate using the wife's slow arsed connection and crappy vid card.

IMHO, we need a better step by step guide on how to log on to the Dynaverse.

I mean for example, why is it newbies like myself can connect on gamespy and not one of the online campaigns?

If seasoned players are having difficulty connecting, how can the D2 expect any new players to sign up for campaigns?

Telling new players "You give up too easy" is NOT the way to get new players into the Dynaverse.

Some of us are not as technologically savy as the old timers with or without the latest connection gizmos and these connection problems are not going to disappear as SFC gets older.

Just my rambling.

Clearly you haven't sacrificed enough virgins and goats in the name of the Holy Gates. What you need to do is gather all the goats blood you can and coat your computer with it. Then, under the light of a full moon ( it has to be full ) recite the following chant three times.

Microsoft is the lord thy God, there shall be no other O/S's before thee.

Either that or pay 100 bucks for the premium phone tech support.

Most people find that its easier to do the virgin sacrifice full-moon blood chant thing.

Well I finaly got OP up and running..... but only on single player. AND IT SUCKS!!!! With Vista's built in security checks. I can not run anything but the single player game. OP 4.0 will not load, neather will ezin AH CRUD!!!!

It sounds to me you could use a dual booting of Vista and XP.

what settings do you use? I'm not even getting a fire wall message. I think its because of an incompatibility between vista and gamespy. Has anyone tried running op over virtual pc?
